You hit the nail on the head. They're called T-shirt fans for a reason.

That being said, I'd take UT versus A&M 10 times out of 10. I hate Aggies and everything they stand for...culturally.

ill never understand why a university with 55,000 students and millions of fans in their own state passed up on all the money they could have made over the years with a bigger stadium

in 1999 their capacity was 80,000
you cant tell me they couldnt fill a Big house sized stadium every week. and its not like they are new to the national scene

no matter how silly it looks, or how big it may turn out to be - nothing will take away from the fact that it feels like your broiling in an oven during games.

the only thing that stadium needs is about 200 more TV's under the stands - because that's the only comfortable place for the general public to see the game from

(or that tent you see on the left- I think of the 8 quarters of football I've witnessed at DKR, 7.5 were spent in that tent soaking up the cool air and $7 beers)

me too, I watched the LSU-Ark game at a sports bar, the UT-A&M game was on at the same time of course. Naturally everyone started rooting against the #1 team and for Arkansas. 2 Texas fans I know got pissed, they said no true UT fan would ever root for Arkansas

We couldn't.

From the mid-late 80's until Mack arrived, excluding a couple of bright spots, Texas Football was disgustingly mediocre and we rarely got over 50,000 for any one game. There's no reason to have a bigger stadium if you can't fill it and we certainly couldn't back then.

Thus the reason that this recent big-scale renovation and the upcoming one that will make DKR-TMS complete has been almost completely credited to Mack. It is because of him that the Texas Program has returned to the limelight and we sell out every single home game. Without him, we still be stuck at 80,082.

When Arkansas and OU played each other in the Cotton Bowl a few years back (otherwise known as the "90,000 people, 10 last names" game), I have never wanted the earth to open up and swallow every last person there more.

I've heard from several folks that it's about the most unexciting "big time" college football atmosphere there is.

It doesn't stack up to Tiger Stadium or the Shoe but it's still better than some other "big time" college football atmospheres (most notably Michigan).

That and it will be interesting to see what the renovation does to the decibel level. Before all the noise could easily escape through the NEZ but that is no longer the case.

I attended Texas vs.N.C. State a few years back and DKR was extremely quiet, especially when Texas needed them the most. I was unimpressed.

Honestly, I saw hardly any tailgating as we walked around the stadium. The crowd was more "wine and cheese."

Tailgaiting is never going to be good at UT. Everything is so bunched in on-campus that there isn't any place to grow the scene and that ain't changing any time soon.

That's fine though because the stadium is so close to so many bars and other locales that most still choose to do their pregame celebrations at Scholz, etc. Next time you're in for a Texas Football Game that is the first place you should stop.

The ugliest stadium in among BCS teams. I can now understand why they play OU in Dallas every year. I wouldn't want that ugly thing on National TV either.

Out of the 65 BCS teams in the 6 BCS Conferences, you think DKR-TMS is the ugliest stadium?

It's not even the ugliest within 100 miles of Austin.

Aesthetically, it definitely lacks. In terms of the seats staying full for the entire game, you must give the Aggie students credit!

I saw the 198? game of aTm versus UT at Kyle, rebroadcasted last season or this year here in Baton Rouge. The UT quarterback stepped away from center several times because of the fan noise - and that was before the huge endzone. When he finally took the snap, he was creamed - just like UT that day. Wasn't Fred Akers the coach? I can't think of the QB at this moment.

Oh absolutely. I'll be the first to admit that the gameday atmosphere at Kyle Field is more intimidating and difficult to play at than it is at DKR. Which is actually a pretty big tribute to the A&M faithful considering the horrific design of their stadium.

Kyle Field is as ugly as it gets...worst BCS stadiums? There are a ton worse than DKR. What about Wallace Wade Stadium at Duke? Ole Miss isn't too pleasant...or Miss. State. UT has one of the best programs in the nation running...

The Zone at A&M is nice as shite, my grandparents had seats in there. Not a great gameday atmosphere, too fancy. My dad has season tickets for A&M in the stands and it is a great atmosphere, much different than other schools. There is one great thing about my dad being an Aggie. He loved A&M so much he bought LSU season tickets to see A&M play them whenever they were in BR every other year. Now that I am graduating and can't get student tickets, I have badass seats that my dad will never use because he hates LSU. so i will be siting with the old folks until pregame, then i will walk over and up to the student section where i belong.
