Did anyone else have to explain to their kids about the Astros?

My son is 9 and loves baseball. He loves the Astros. Well he asked me about what happened and I just told him that it sucks, they cheated, and maybe he should look for another team. He loves Bregman. I really think he’s heartbroken because he believes his favorite player isn’t as good as he thought. I tried to tell him Bregman is still a damn good player but you never know who someone you look up to really is if you don’t know them. I went and bought him a Braves hat but he isn’t thrilled about it and probably won’t wear it. Anybody else dealing with this?

we get like 7 baseball threads during the course of the entire season. wtf is going on here?

Use it as a lesson that this world is full of cheaters and other people who take advantage of the system. That is how it has always been and how it will always be.
Then use Rob Manfred as another lesson that there is no accountability in today's society. If you're powerful enough or famous enough, you can get away with a lot.

You're a good man. If you haven't been to the new stadium, I would suggest trying to catch a game this year. We don't cheat in Atlanta

Let's not get carried away.
The Coppy incident is only a few years old.

Great teaching moment opportunity where you can teach your kid the proper way to come back from doing something wrong in your life.
Instead you are teaching him to just abandon ship.

I am showing them how not to be a weak leader, like AJ Hinch was and what it costs someone who passive aggressively handles situations like a bitch.

Might want to get out ahead of this one. I hope your kid doesn't want to be like Bregman.. or at least only wants to emulate his baseball ability

Man, I'm truly sorry you're having to go through this. Tell Bryndenn to keep his chin up. That's where his goatee will be one day.

Your kid is 9 years old and hasn’t learned that sometimes people you like do bad things?

Nothing gets people more upset than something causing them to actually have to talk to their kids

None of the stuff in his post ever happened

Props for talking to your kid about the situation, but you straight up lied to him here.
Bregman has almost certainly never played in the bigs without cheating and if my dad told me that’s okay and he’s still a good player I would certainly question his judge of character throughout the rest of my life.
