62 more games with a three point line

Did Pete ever play CBB with a 3 point line? I thought it came after he left college. If it did then it was 144 more games with a 3 point line. I just seen where CBB didn't institute the 3 point line until 86, well after pete.

Hell, Dale Brown did and it was like an additional 8 points per game.

It has been reported that former LSU coach Dale Brown charted every shot Maravich scored and concluded that, if his shots from three-point range had been counted as three points, Maravich's average would have totaled 57 points per game and 12 three-pointers per game.

He would have made 12 a game? How many 3s did he shot? Believe he averaged 38 shots a game

Of the 19 NCAA tourney games that have surpassed 200 total points, none were before 1987 and none after 2008.

I can remember when Roger Maris was chasing Babe Ruth's home run record in the early 60's and did manage 59 runs by their 154th game, the same number of games Ruth had hit 60 homers. It wasn't until the last game, game #162 that Maris finally hit his 61st to break the record. I wonder just how many more runs Ruth could have hit in 8 extra games like Maris had.................

A lot of folks tried to make similar excuses when Hank Aaron broke Ruth’s career record.

With Maris, he broke the “single season” HR record. It was rightfully his because, within the qualifier a single MLB season, he hit the most HR. There is nothing wrong with including the context that the second highest single season total was achieved when the season had fewer games.

With Maravich, I think his son really seemed to put it in perspective when he said his dad would probably be rooting for the kid (at least through the league tournament) Yes, compared to Pete he benefitted from rules changes including the 3 point line, shot clock, freshman eligibility and the “extra” Covid season. But those were also the rules everyone else in his “career” were playing by.

What I have a problem with, and where the kid totally F’d up and made himself look like a spoiled POS, is complaining about not getting the extra game in the CBI. It wasn’t a game that his team “deserved”. The bid would have been solely about him and giving him a chance to break a record. When sports writers and some fans were clamoring for the CBI to give them a bid, he could have come out and said he wasn’t playing if they did and come out smelling like a rose.
