Lennox was at least 35 maybe older for that fight. He retired a year or two later.

He fought who was there. Destroyed them all....and quickly....until the drugs and whores.

Tyson barely trained for that fight and was on drugs

Tyson would beat Wilder. Fury would be a horrible matchup for him.

Tyson isn’t knocking out a big, skilled dude a foot taller than him with a 13 inch reach advantage who also outweighs him by 50+ lbs. Fury moves insanely well. Especially in comparison to the tomato cans Mike padded his record with.

Wouldn't hit Fury in 12 rounds. I don't think you appreciate how good he is.

Fury is a top level boxer and is 270 pounds 6'9" and moves like a welterweight. A guy like that towering over Tyson would give him huge fits.

It would depend on the ref. Tyson normally had great success against tall fighters, as long as he could get inside.

It's useless debating with Tyson fans though. The guy's prime is considered God mode now and nothing deters them from it. Even though he fought basically nobodies and the sport was dominated by one promotion/manager (wink, wink). They will make excuses for him all day and night..

He fought what was in front of him.

And he reclaimed the title after going to jail for 3 years.

50-6. An all-time great.

Today, yeah.

Prime Mike was something Fury would be scared of.

Fury would not close the gap on Mike like he did to Wilder tonight.

What was Tyson's prime 21-24? That is an oddly very specific time frame and highly unusual. Fury is 31.

Tyson's greatest fight was against Tucker, who was a huge fighter and very accomplished. But Tyson didn't knock him out (LINK ). I think it would be a good fight. But almost everyone thought Wilder was knocking out Fury, same with Wladimir. Fury can go and doesn't look to be scared of shite..

Fury would piece Tyson up, but I think he could be Deontay.

Absolutely. Holyfield or Bowe would also. Those guys looked like bums. Boxing is dead if those are the best

How long until we face the fact Tyson wasn’t that great? Feasted on tomato cans through the 80s and when he faced real athletes in the division he got bounced. He was very good but not a top 5 hw imo

Tyson Fury scared of Mike Tyson? Whoever thinks this doesn't know Fury. There are a lot of people shitting on the heavyweight division right now, but last night was a fight between a 6'7" beast with the best right hand in the history of boxing and a 6'9" technician who has beaten two of the best champions of the last 10 years convincingly.

Wilder, Ortiz, Fury, Joshua all stack up well against any era except the very best ones. And all except Ortiz are giants compared to Tyson.

Tyson was the best heavyweight in an era where no one was very good. His best win by far was Spinks. In his 20s he was a machine, but even at his best, he wouldn't have been able to beat Fury or Lewis because they both knew how to use their reach and not get hit.

I didn't catch the fight last night, but prime Mike Tyson was a beast like we haven't seen since. Based on what I heard about the fight, Tyson probably KO's Wilder early, and would likely TKO Fury late. He was a good technical fighter, and I think he would have worked his way in and worn down Fury with body shots.

quote:

Prime Larry Holmes would have beaten Mike Tyson’s arse. He would have jabbed him all night till Mike gave up

Now, this, I think, is true. Holmes is criminally underrated, and he was washed up before he lost.

He gave Tyson some fits until he got caught, and a younger version of Holmes likely avoids getting caught.
