Started roughly the same number of games, both now THE de facto QB of their respective franchises.

Deshaun Watson (22 years old)

Jimmy Garoppolo (26 years old)

Jimmy and it's not close

i doubt you'd find a 49er fan who would trade JGQ for Watson

This is actually a tougher one than I thought it'd be.

I'd probably go Watson because he's 4 years younger and has shown right out of the gate he's going to be very good.

Watson was killing it before he got injured.

To me it's Watson easily because of exactly what you've said.

It's scary to think where Watson could've finished this season if he could've played all 16 games

7 starts in 4 years is quite a command.

I took the OP's question to be limited to the players, not their coaches.

If anything doing what he did with a lesser coach is a check in Watson's favor.

Yeah, I just don't think the "learned from Tom Brady" thing can be used to put him over Watson.

Many duds have studied under Brady. Garoppolo is going to be awesome though.

Both will be fantastic. I would lean Garappolo because what he gives up in age Watson gives back with his history of knee injuries. Jimmy G will be somewhat more efficient as a passer with less turnovers to edge him ahead of Watson.

I mean I watched him play every snap this season with the 49ers and he's the real deal. The fact that he was even able to pick up as much of the offense that he did in such a short time is incredible. Took a Browns level bad team and went 5-0 with them. Tremendous leader and like I said his release is lightning fast which is a bigger deal than most of you realize I imagine. The one thing I would say he needs to improve is his footwork.
