What's interesting to me is even borderline college guys absolutely standout when you play them in HS. It's like this razor thin exponential increase in ability with future NFL being the tiniest tip of the spear.

I went to catlik school so I didn't see many, but there were probably 2 games and 1 scrimmage - 2 of them out of conference of course - where we saw legitimate college recruits. 1 or 2 of them went on to have some sort of NFL career. You definitely did not need to know their names or jersey numbers to know which ones they were.
They weren't all huge, they just moved a helluva lot faster than anyone else on the field.

it's like that in all sports.
25 years ago or so, I played in a baseball tournament in Florida.
there were a handful of dudes that were in LowA and Rookie ball in MLB systems.
Them dudes were just ridiculously better than anyone else out there.
And these were guy barely hanging on in the lowest level of pro ball.

I like how they circle him in a couple of the clips like you have a hard time figuring out which one he is.

I'm not sure if Derreck Henry could have even stopped Derreck Henry.
6'3"

4.5 second 40.
What's crazy to think is Cam Newton was 2" taller and 10 lbs heavier coming out of JR college.

Emmitt Smith in high school was phenomenal and was the first Gatorade National Player of the year in 1986.
