IrishEnvy is a fricking hoot. My favorite so far

The media should be ashamed and now I understand how this kid played so miserably in his most important game. Now the game looks sooooo unimportant. I dont know about you guys but my prayers were answered for this kid. Manti Teo a Notre Dame man.

Deadspin: Manti Te'o Dead Girlfriend Story a Hoax (Now with ND/Te'o statements) My wife just asked a good question. Even if they had a long distance relationship wouldn't they have facetimed or video chatted? Just because you live in separate states doesn't mean you can't see each other. He is 100% lying.
Unless he overstated the seriousness of their relationship for media sympathy. And now it is blowing up in his face.

Plus, as it has been said, when the ND captain's girlfriend is a little obscure, maybe, you don't question her existence like you would if it was some pencil neck geek.
If you are a journalist you do. There are supposed to be standards. You dont have to bother the family or disr3spect their privacy to verify that someone fricking died. I qm not letting them off the hook that easy. It was lazy journalism fueled by the desire to report a sensational story.

Pretty much.
Even a VERY surface level line a questioning puts enormous holes in the AD's "official story"
I mean he never saw her for christmas break? Summer? Spring break? ANYTHING?!?!?!? For 3 years???

Yep from someone who is in one it would be pretty much impossible without it IMO.
Skype saves relationships

Notre Dame banned FaceTime and all video cameras from campus and the surrounding areas.

By making up a bunch of fake details and having your father corroborate everything for you? None of this adds up at all.

I just let this sink in. About 25 years or so ago, when I was 10, video chatting was to me some jet sons type shite. Now we are using its existence to prove that the ND football captain lied and said he had a fake gf who he claimed died of cancer. What a world.

A real journalist, not someone just trying to do a fluff piece, realizes that the lack of obit or record of car crash is something to be followed up, not just something to shrug off.
Well, you're sort of trying to do a fluff piece when a young man says his girlfriend just died of cancer (immediately following his grandmother's death).
I think some journalists probably started to look for an obit, but moved on because it was in the heart of football season and the story is more about him since he is the one with any fame.

I couldn't come up with the right word. I mean that she was hard to locate when searched for, kind of thing.

ESPN knew about this story before the NC game and sat on it. Would they have sat on it if it had been a bama player?.

Hell they didn't even sit on a made-up story about Les Miles taking the job at Michigan in 2007.
