I think it's worth mentioning that the Dodgers are also privy to some unfair advantages.

Everyone here should remember the whole Zach Lee situation. MLB approved a 5 mil
dollar signing for a draft slot less than 1 mil at a time when ownership change was inevitable.

IIRC, the Twins had been denied the year before on a 3 mil offer to a 1.2 mil slot.

Their bullpen has been really good but I think the bridge between their starters and Jansen can be hit if we are rolling again offensively. The problem is their rotation is better than NY (obviously) and Jansen is better than Chapman.

Everyone talks about the Dodgers bullpen and it has been good. But i remember before the ALCS the Yankees had the best bullpen in baseball. Astros took game 2 off Chapman, scored 3 on Robertson in game 6 and took a few off of another bullpen stud in game 7.

Love the DAT fellas love that I'm a part of something magical.

I think it's time to talk about the roof situation.

CBS (Commissioner Bud Selig) forced it to be open in 2005. I'm not saying that is the reason we lost to CWS, but that is the reason we lost to CWS.

Will CRM, now that he replaced CBS, use 2005 as a precedent to decide what he will do with the Minute Maid Park roof, or will he not give a sh*t as its such a small issue to MLB, but provides such a huge home field advantage for the Astros?

Rain chance for Fri will have it closed no matter what. I think it stays closed.

That's a great question. Opening the roof completely deflates the atmosphere. And I don't see a high above 78 after they get back from LA. So it sets up for them to make us open it again. And it is a big deal to us, but the aesthetics and TV are all MLB cares about.

I believe the temperature will require a closed roof

They are calling for a low of 42 here Fri night

I am pretty sure the rule the Astros have set with MLB is anything about 65 and below 80 with no threat of rain it stays open. It should be cool enough both nights with the rain possibility for it to stay closed

Unless MLB is dumb again and makes them open it

Currently, the roof is closed for the threat of rain, threat of sustained winds above 30 mph, temperatures below 65 degrees for a night game and air temperature or heat-index readings above 88 degrees for a night game or 84 for a day game

Theres a chance of rain in the evening on Friday and the game time temp is projected to be right at 64.

Saturday's high is 64. 58 by game time.

Same for Sunday. Low 60s first pitch, dropping into the high 50s.

I think the team should have full control over whether the roof is open or not in order to maximize our home field advantage no different than cutting the infield grass to a certain height or wetting the dirt in front of home plate. But in this case, the roof status would fall within the established protocol. frick MLB if they arbitrarily decide to change that.

It’s the damnest thing. The roof just won’t open. Called up the local hydraulics guy but he is slammed fixing all the slabs from the hurricane. Welp, some things mean more than this silly game.

-me if I ran the Astros

Not sure I completely agree....

There's a high probability that the MVP will go yard on dat arse, regardless of the exhibit of douchebaggery WHAT!

Let's talk Game 1 weather:

quote:

In addition to the heat (100 degrees?), the dreaded Santa Ana winds that wreak so much havoc in Southern California’s mountains and foothill areas are also expected to blow at about 25 mph from right field and right at home plate.

Two lefties on the mound with that wind if it happens? Likely means small ball will be needed with outfielders playing shallow. Marwin needs to be careful in left field and positioned closer to the line than analytics would normally suggest.
