The interview is likely to piss off the masses and he earned himself a few more fastballs in the arse but he's right to tell all these fricks "quit making us the scapegoats for all your failures."

What the hell? When did the daily Astros thread become the most level headed rational discussion on a particular topic?

Righteous indignation from California Little Leagues:

quote:

The Long Beach Little League and the East Fullerton Little League have both banned the use of "Astros" from their teams this year after the major league team was found to have illegally stolen signs en route to winning the 2017 World Series over the Los Angeles Dodgers.

"Parents are disgusted," Long Beach Little League president Steve Klaus told the Orange County Register. "They are disgusted with the Astros and their lack of ownership and accountability. We know there's more to this scandal. What's coming tomorrow? With the Astros, you've got premeditated cheating."

Yeah. The Dodgers do it too, just didn’t get caught.

What’s coming tomorrow?

There’s people out there that’s ready to yell “cheaters!” as soon as they get their first W

We're not as irrational of a bunch as you might think. After 3 months (more if you include the Taubman incident) of being beat over the head with shitty hot takes, what more can we as fans outwardly do than just embrace the role of villains and roll with it? Makes no difference in any of this if we as fans are "sorry" for our teams sins.

I think if you want to have an honest objective conversation, most of the DATters would tell you the Astros cheated in 2017, they took sign stealing and amplified it to something that was considered crossing the line. When we mention the Yankees, it's not about deflecting. What Beltran said matters, "the Astros sign stealing was behind the times"....ok well compared to who? What's his basis of knowledge coming from?

This scandal is being made out to be the most egregious example of cheating in the history of the sport and I think most of us are thinking "woah woah woah...were the Astros doing something that other teams weren't doing prior to the commissioners warning in mid 2017?" To me, theres 2 key distinctions in that question...the Astros are essentially being treated baseball terrorists for their atrocities against baseball.

Well, if they were doing something that was commonplace prior to the commissioner's warning are they the actual monsters against the sport they've been painted as? And the 2nd point, a lot of people point back to the commissioner's warning as being the key to all this. That nothing prior to that point was specifically illegal until the warning to knock it off was issued. Everybody else stopped, the Astros didn't. I accept that. Though I'd challenge, we don't specifically know everybody else stopped. What we know about the Astros, we know because Mike Fiers went turncoat and the franchise subsequently received a 3 month rectal probe from the commissioners office. Nobody else has had that level of scrutiny.

I think Correa is doing the right thing by owning what they did wrong. Both as a team and personally. But he's right to push back against the amount of bullshite being flung at the wall. The buzzer stuff is particularly ridiculous. An unverified rumor from an anonymous twitter account linked to a known hoaxer has been turned into spoken gospel. The Astros are being scapegoated as the reason for every teams failures. But independent of any sign stealing, the Astros are a verifiably talented team who had success far before the sign stealing scandal....sometimes you lost to them because they're more talented than you. It happens.

Sorry for the novel but theres my honest thoughts if you wanted to read them outside of a thread full of ridiculous hot takes. That's just my opinion and I don't want to speak for any of our other posters but I've been posting and talking Astros with them here so long I'm sure a lot of them would echo this book.

Like you said earlier in this thread, every pad pitch by an opposing pitcher or strikeout by an opposing batter has turned into, well the Astros cheated, doesn’t count.

According to the report, the Stros didn’t cheat last year and: won a shite ton of games, had a historically great offense, & came within 7 outs of a WS title.

And guess what, we’re projected to have the highest team WAR in baseball this year

As a non-Astro fan, I'm tired of the whole thing. Astros cheated. Its proven. It helped them to some degree. How much? Who knows. It isn't quantifiable. Clearly, other teams did cheat. How many? Who knows.

Astros won the World Series. There is no changing that. Title wont be stripped. Shouldn't be stripped.

Let's play some fricking baseball.

Has it been figured out yet how the Astros and other playoff pitchers cheat to make Belligners cry baby arse suck?
