Brian Cashman basically said the Yankees will try to trade Sonny Gray this offseason. That he has the best chance to pitch up to his ability somewhere else.
Kind of want

I actually kind of want as well. I just have belief strom can fix anyone at this point.

Is Stubhub the best place for Game 3 tickets?

Along those same lines, thoughts on Nathan Eovaldi as a free agent? Not really a guy that needs fixing and I don't see why the Sox wouldn't resign him. But he seems like he could be another Charlie Morton for us if we got him matched up with Strom.

Would be a really good addition.

I think Eovaldi would fit right in with what the Astros have made in to stud pitchers the last few years.

Gray had a 3.17 ERA away from Yankees stadium, the Yankees are going to want more than scrubs for him and that will be their pitch to teams along with his age.

2019 rotation could be Verlander, Cole, McCullers, James, then Morton/Eovaldi with Valdez/Perez/Whitley all right behind.
I doubt Keuchel is back, Morton I just don't know about.

Eovalfi is from Alvin. He may want to Come home. But I doubt the Astros spend on starting pitching outside of resigning Morton.

Chuck is an ideal candidate to offer and take the QO. He’s close to retirement and worth it to us on a one year deal. I would be kind of surprised if he leaves

I would be surprised if Morton signs elsewhere, but I wouldn't be surprised if he called it a career.

WOuld be a huge shock if he calls it a career, he pitches at least two more unless next year the wheels fall off

I thought chuck had implied that the end of this contract was the end of his career?

“[I]t would be about the situation overall,” the right-hander said. “What’s the group like in the clubhouse? Where would I be? Would I be closer to [his wife’s] family (in Delaware) in a spot where she would prefer to be?” Morton goes on to list his own health and performance as additional determining factors in playing into 2019 and possibly beyond.
quote:
Morton also plainly stated that he’d rather remain with the Astros than test the open market at season’s end. Morton describes the group of talent in Houston as “special” and adds: “…when you think about a team that you want to play for, a team like this is it.” At present, however, he added that he’s not aware of any extension talks between his agent and the Astros.
As Kaplan notes, Morton is rapidly pitching himself into qualifying offer territory, so the decision could be fairly straightfoward for both parties. A one-year deal at a premium rate — something north of this past season’s $17.4MM value — for the 2019 season would presumably be appealing to the Astros’ front office. Morton, meanwhile, would have the opportunity to remain where he’s comfortable on a deal that leaves him a window in the near future to walk away from the game and begin spending more time with his growing young family — something which he stressed on multiple occasions to be the most fulfilling part of his life. Certainly, it doesn’t sound as if he’ll be entertaining any long-term offers.
“It could be this year, next year, but I’m not going to keep playing for a long time,” said Morton of his eventual retirement. “I can promise you that. I’m not going to keep playing four, five, six, seven more years.”

Hearing that Straw and Harris will be off the ALCS roster, Rondon and Joe Smith added.
Someone needs to change all of Gattis's calendars to June.

Astros sets roster for ALCS:
Myles Straw is off, adding Rondon and Joe Smith. Will Harris is off.

That is correct. Straw IMO should be on the roster over Gattis, but otherwise our pitching/lineups should be strong again for the ALCS.

Mistake leaving straw off the roster.
