The Astros have seen Lorenzen twice this season, a win on April 18th with 4 runs in 3.1 innings and a win on July 1st with 8 runs (7 earned) in 3.0 innings.

Yordan, Yuli, and Chas all took him deep in those games and he hasn't pitched since that July 1st game due to a shoulder strain.

Meanwhile Lance has a tidy 2.08 ERA in his return this season, but we all know that 14 walks in 21.2 IP is not good.

As always, FODB.

Can we ban the shift today so that Yordan might be useful again. At least some of his endless ground balls might sneak through

Ohtani hits a solo homerun and puts up a stat that hasn't happened in 85 years, but the Angels lose 6-1.

Book it.

Ohtani and Altuve each over 1.5 total bases +475 on 9/9.

Solid bet??

I’d look at Ohtani’s history against Lance, but it looks good to me on the surface.

Pretty solid. Neither starter should go very deep.

Enjoy what Framber is doing while you can. I think this shift business is going to have a major negative impact on him. There's no way around it, a guy with a 70% ground ball rate will be impacted by banning the shift. And if Framber is plagued by ground ball hits that used to be outs for him, he's gonna melt.

It will impact him, but having that many balls hit on the ground is an inherently great thing even with a normal alignment. Those are singles at a maximum. He will still be very good

I'll have to pay more attention moving forward to defensive positioning behind him. The shift bans are really targeted at left handed hitters so the ground ball outs and double plays should still be there for RH hitters.

The pitch clocks can’t get here soon enough. I wish auto balls and strikes were on the vote. I’m way over watching dipshit umpires with big egos and small brains call balls strikes and vice versa because they’re in a snit over something they heard from one of the dugouts.

I am curious to see how Trout does in this series. He was 0-11 with 9 K in his last visit to MMP and looked broken.

He comes in having homered in his last 4 games, so he is in a good place. Will be a key to the series, I think.

I keep seeing a lot people say, "why ban the shift? Hitters just need to learn how to hit oppo."

Well, none of those people have faced Major League pitching. It is not that simple. If it were that simple, Tony Gwynn would just be another guy that played, instead of one of the best pure hitters ever.

As for the new rule, I think you'll still see some teams shifting LHBs where the SS is standing deep and almost directly behind second base. The days of playing straight up are gone. I do believe it will help Tucker and Yuli (wherever he ends up playing next year) the most.

I actually think it will help Verlander the most as a pitcher -- shifts have opened the field up for so many cheap hits against him.

Biggest impact will be on the defensive ability required at 2b.

Potentially back today, threw two days ago and felt good.

Late next week at best, probably the following one.

I miss Yed. This new guy wearing his jersey isn't very good.

Thankfully the Rangers weren't given this info Wednesday and were still using a July scouting report on him

In a season full of Dusty dumbass-isms, the Rangers intentionally walking Yordan to advance the runners a base and get to Bregman has to be the worst tactical error I have seen all year long.

O/U 8.5?

I'm thinking under. Haven't watched baseball hardly except looking at scoreboard, standings and some stats.

It's up there with LaRussa intentionally walking people with 2 strikes.
