Rest assured my friend, he won't be back. I guarantee it.

Yeah, the Carter thing is just because he has shown life recently. Luhnow knows KK is a long term loser.

we'll let him go and he'll sign with someone who has better hitters around him so the team can afford to put up with him. Carter hits a career high .240 with 44HR 120RBI and 100 walks. Because Astros.

His inability to be both a patient hitter and hit fastballs have nothing to do with the lineup around him. He could bat between Altuve and Correa all season yet still strikeout 200 times.

He's actually a very patient hitter. He sees 4.28 pitches per plate appearance and leads the team in walks despite being largely a bench player the last few months. He doesn't have enough at bats to qualify but that would be 3rd in baseball.

hit fastballs

That's the problem. He can work a count just fine but theres a hole in his swing. Guy just can't catch up to heat. If he could figure that out, he's an MVP candidate. But that seems unlikely.

I think the thought originally was that we could wait for him to come around because it would be a while before we were contenders.

Well all that has changed now and he's a power hitting luxury that we really don't need anymore.

We have plenty of power. What we need is a solid hitting 1B that we can bat in the middle of the order and count on to drive in runs.

The sad part is that he could half-swing his way to 20 homers, and cut down the K's, but he doesn't seem to care.

Umm, that's why I said both/and. He cannot handle being more patient AND still catching up to fastballs. Which makes him not good enough to start for a contender. He is also not reliable enough to be a bench player.

I think that's why Luhnow has taken a wait and see attitude with Carter. The guy has a patient approach and can effortlessly hit a ball a mile. I can see where they would have hope that with some experience, he'd make some adjustments on the fastball. But that just hasnt played out and I don't expect him back next year.

I mean, he could have a great finish and postseason. But I would hope that would only be used to trade value advantage.

Damn these late west coast games. Ship the Royals out west and put us in the central.

At least our guys should know what's going on with the Rangers by the time our games start.

I've been paying attention to Carter's plate appearances every since Ashby first found that pitches per plate appearance statistic intriguing.

My theory -- the numbers don't lie, Carter sees more pitches than most batters. What they don't tell you is his, "That was a big fatass pitch right down the middle that any major leaguer should have hit out of the park but Carter could only manage to foul it off because his big effortless swing is also slow as shitting out an 'it's free if you eat the whole thing 72 oz porterhouse steak from The Big Texan' ratio is astronomically high".

or something along those lines.

It's been a struggle for Gray over the last month...except against Road Astros of course.

Colby Lewis with a bases loaded walk to Miggy Cabrera. We'll take it. Kind of wanted Miggy to get a hittable pitch though.
