Mercifully we have reached the final series of this regular season.

Magic Number still at 2, and the Angels are off today before a series against the Dodgers so no clinching possible today.

Some electric quotes out of the guys last night, gotta love their head space potentially going into the postseason

quote:

"It is what it is," Astros manager Dusty Baker said. "You can't reverse it and take it back. We just have to go back to the drawing board."

quote:

"We need to do a better job offensively; need to get better," Astros third baseman Alex Bregman said. "It's getting down to the end of the season, so we need to start swinging the bats a lot better."

And these numbers need to get reposted again to emphasize how bad they've been this month

quote:

the Astros are 7-13 in their last 20 games. They're hitting .216 as a team in that stretch, including .191 with runners in scoring position, and averaging 3.4 runs per game. Houston was 1-for-9 with runners in scoring position Wednesday, including the bases loaded in the fifth.

Brantley, Tucker, and Maldonado weren't even on that 2017 team.

Actually, I think this helps your point.

Na, this is the worst they’ve hit cumulatively as a team since 2013

That is absurd

Was there a proclamation to remove DAT from the title of our threads?

I'm fine with it

Just wondering

Not to my knowledge, I just mirrored the format of yesterday's thread.

I'll add that and the date

It is ok. We have all been doing enough "clenching" to go around lately while watching this clown show.

They must’ve been cheating again during the first half of the season when they were leading the league in runs scored. They stopped cheating in September, and it’s killed them. You guys who continue to say this are using the sports version of the race card.

I thought about responding like you, then the amount of effort needed to do it exceeded that which the Astros are putting forth, so...

Not to mention last year, when they stumbled to 107 wins, then stopped cheating in the postseason. Does sign stealing provide an edge? Of course. But it doesn’t turn a shitty hitter into a great one.

They’re talented hitters but they’re mental midgets, with a few exceptions. The sign stealing scandal magnified THAT more than it did actual hitting.

The 2019 Nationals were 23-32 on their way to winning the World Series.

The 2020 Nationals are 23-32 and have been eliminated from an expanded playoffs.

I'd like to see Garneau and Altuve switched.

Only sort of joking.
