I imagine he meant to throw it a few inches higher. Pitchers miss spots all the time. They often get away with it, that wasn’t the case here. That said, I don’t think it was a terrible pitch. I imagine his swinging strike on fastballs similar to that is pretty high. Also, that was a pretty light home run. Most fly balls hit 94 mph are outs.

It was a bad pitch. Arenado was swinging for a fastball and got it right in his bat path. He was so fooled two pitches earlier on a slider it was comical.
Pitch sequence:
Fastball up swing and miss
Slider down in the dirt and away swing and miss
Fastball up fouled back
Fastball in homerun
There’s no reason he needed to throw another fastball much less in his wheelhouse.

Yep, very unlike yordan to miss that pitch. Now correa strikes out on three pitches. Terrible.
