Dallas Keuchel piece from the Chronicle
quote:
"It was hard (to leave because) the fans were great. But it's not that hard when you're not being valued at what you really are."
quote:
"The CBA is really messed up and it's mainly our fault," Keuchel said. "We need to right this ship and get it back to where it should be at 50 percent. If teams want to continue to value this ridiculous compensation pick like it's a Hall of Fame pick, we're going to have to figure out something to counter this."

I did this a lot when I was blacked out in BR. Also pretty easy to screen mirror onto the TV if you're using your phone.

on one hand, I feel bad for Keuchel. He suffered from peaking too soon, choosing an agent that didn't understand the new direction of baseball management, and being on a team that had the luxury of telling him, "Take it or leave it".
On the other hand, he could've taken the Astros 2 year deal, been a contributor to this incredible team, and enjoyed the benefits of pitching for another World Series ring.
Life sometimes throws difficult choices at you. When you make the incorrect decision, don't get all pissy because you feel like you shouldn't have been forced to make that decision.

Time for a new DAT to start off the Greinke era on the right foot. One of the regular DAT OPs, get on it!

He's right about the CBA and qualifying offer rules though. There's no reason that Keuchel and Kimbrel should have been blackballed until after the draft just because teams didn't want to lose a pick and international money.

He chose poorly. They offered him 90 million at one point and it wasn’t good enough. Maybe he is bitter that Miley is a better version of him for less for his former team.

That’s not how it works.

You don't mess with a winning streak.
Honestly I never start them because I never know if I'm going to be around to start one the next day (especially on a weekend) and I always assume the Astros are going to win.

We are now no longer in the MLB Prospect Pipeline Top 15 baws. Thanks Lunhow.

That's just MLB.com's opinion.
They have Tucker at #13, Whitley at #17, Beer at #100. No other current or former Astros prospects in the current top 100.

It is easy to have that mindset, still Dallas is worth more than what the Astros offered. He didn't get it because the CBA essentially fricked him based on his age and the compensation pick attached to him.

Perhaps. Or, perhaps he was worth more back in 2015, or maybe 2016. But I don’t think he was after 2017 and ‘18. It’s easy to blame the CBA and his age... but weren’t BOTH of those know facts, well before they became an issue? If I remember correctly, the Astros tried to get him to open extension discussions after 2016 and his agent said they were not interested until he became a FA.
He got shitty advice.

He was injured with back, neck, and ankle/foot also.
He was a guest speaker at a local event I attended after the WS 2017 and was in a boot.
He got bad advice and/or decided to test the market, and still could have taken the QO, but didn't.
His pride was worth too much.
