Why let him bat? He's done in this game.

He cost us that run. Easy double play and he can't get the ball. Out of his glove.

You can smell this one coming. Offense is going into a shutdown and this game is going to end up closer than it needs to be.

100mph on the black. Everytime I fall off the Martes train he pulls me back in

So basically, we could have let martes hit, stand all the way away from the plate, strike out without taking the bat off his shoulder and it would have worked out better. And he could have pitched another inning.

Hinch is so stupid.

ETA: I stand by this even though Devo got out of that.

I think the plan is to get Martes into a defined role. He's got possibly the best stuff in the bullpen. IMO they're trying to groom him into a high leverage reliever for the playoffs. So he'll be pitching an inning or so at a time.

I think the definition makes sense for a young guy like him. Rather than have him float as a long reliever or not getting used at all. Tell him he'll be used in a middle relief role for 1 inning stretches

I think you're wasting him a bit if you do that.

I do not envy Hinch's position with Martes. He can come out like today and look like a guy who is going to shut down the heart of the 1927 yankees order on Ks in the 9th. Then on others he can only get 2 outs against detroit and give up 3 earned

Has anyone in the Astros front office commented on the idea of bringing JD Davis up at this point in the season? Was it part of a contract promise. Was it because they were showcasing him? Was it because of injuries? Or did he truly just deserve it? I know he was hot in Double A and carried it into his short Triple A stint. I'm just curious.

I cannot explain it. I don't know if there is one person in the DAT who believes that he should be up instead of White.

Stassi!

It's nice cue to have a catcher hit and no one knows where the ball might go. I'm sick of watching McCann hit directly into a shift, at bat after at bat.

Wtf? Can he not have a clean inning just fricking once? I'm sure he had a few in Toronto. It's almost like it's on purpose.

Pull him. Can't get the bottom of the lineup out starting a fresh inning with no one on. Can get a lefty out either.

Anybody want to bet Liriano creates a save situation for Giles?

I almost want Tony Sipp back. At least he'd pitch a clean inning every now and then.
