When the Astros played the Chicago White Sox last Sunday Night, it was the first time the Astros have played a Sunday Night game since 2018, postseason excluded.

Since we got bumped I've edited the thread title to accurately reflect the state of this thread and assuage chickens concerns about wayward confused strangers entering page 1 of the thread.

Now that the emotions and raw energy have dissipated a bit, we need to come back and resume our quest to take over Cluck’s job. In spite of Pressly and Dusty’s suckage (make no mistake, they did suck) in the two losses, the fact remains that every game was a nail biter because we continuously failed to score more runs in key situations. And by failing to score more runs, I mean the utter ineptness to make solid (or any) contact with RISP. Kudos to Bregman for working a walk yesterday instead of an out but he missed a meatball in that AB. And then Tuck and Yuli…my God.

I mean first off, replace Castro with a corpse. There is no world right now where he belongs on a MLB team. We can upgrade that spot with literally no effort.

What about Yuli? Is it time? Is it Bell or bust?

Who goes to the pen when Odo and Lance return?

What else??

I have another name... Garrett Cooper with Miami.

We have plenty of dudes who get on base. We need at least another dude who gets teammates on home plate.

I like that Cooper with RISP is hitting .346 this year with a .983 OPS

Bell is a not-too-shabby .308/.832 with 50% more chances.

By comparison, our 1B Corpse with RISP:

.140 AVG
.404 OPS

Interesting. Do you think they’d be sellers? They had a terrible month of May but have been decent this month and April. Only 6 back in the WIld Card.

Ultimately I would prefer Bell, but Cooper is a decent plan B. His OBP is 99 points higher than Yuli's corpse and he's under control for 2023. He's also hit 2nd more than anywhere else this season so less RBI chances... and has hit well with RISP.

He's worth making a phone call if the Marlins fade a little.
