Hes not Verlander but his ERA did not match his peripherals.

Overall in the MLB he is 1st in K/9
number 7 in WHIP at 1.02
11 in FIP at 3.11
1st xFIP 2.55

I dont love FIP as a judge of a players previous performance because I dont care how outs are achieved (it values Ks too much) but it is supposedly more predictive

Those 8 earned runs in that clunker at Texas were a black eye on the ERA. Hes been solid outside of that one bad game.
