This graphic jynxed us, but I love the way the Stros won last night.
Osuna blew the save, but he pitched extremely well to keep it tied with a runner on third and no one out.
Also, Aledmys Diaz is becoming my favorite Astro. He has exceeded my expectations.
Brantley has as well. I knew he’d be good, but not this good.

All four pickups have been great. Diaz Chirinos Brantley Miley

Astros are 1-8 in games in which they do not hit a home run.

Stubbs is up. Stassi to IL

Don’t like to celebrate an injury but interested to see what Stubbs can do

I predict he will not be sent back down and him and chirinos form a platoon duo for the next couple years.
Baseball america profile on him prior to the season
Cliffs:
Was known to have solid defensive skills, bat picked up over the last couple years. Concerns for full time primary catcher revolve around his frames ability to hold up over 162 game season (5'10" 183lb).
For me particularly for a back up catcher my primary concern is defensive skills. Any bat production is just gravy. He fits in nicely though to platoon with chirinos as a lefty at bat

Can I shove a broom up your arse when the Sox win today?

This may be an unpopular opinion but I don’t like that the Astros shelter the backup types from catching Verlander to keep him happy. I think there’s a lot of experience to be gained there.

Agree to an extent but I remember a graphic last year and JVs ERA was significantly higher with Stassi compared to McCann and I seem to remember a few shots of them in the dugout with JV getting into it with him about midway through the year. Stassi had caught JV several times at that point.
I think its much more of a JV and Stassi thing rather than a JV and back up catcher thing. With that said I also wouldnt have stubbs catch him until hes gotten his feet wet

Corbaw's chances of success that day just went up.
