AJ Hinch, Steve Sparks and Fernando Rodney were teammates on the 2003 Tigers. One is managing this game, one is broadcasting this game and one is pitching in this game.

saw him hit himself in the nads back in the dome at bat once. sitting behind the plate in the fancy seats, where they opened the backstop up and they carried him right by me. that was the night i met carl everett, bob lanier, tom koch, and stopped uncle drayton who i'm sure was on his way to the shitter for an auto. i still have the program.

Laureano should be sitting back in the dugout. 2 of those pitches have been called strikes tonight.

i'll defend his name to the grave. he was awesome in person, as a kid. he stopped me walking down from the buffet to the seats behind the plate pregame and talked to me. he was absolutely the nicest athlete i've ever met.

Remember seeing peak Everett crushing bombs in the Astrodome back in '98 back when I was young lad. Was a legend.

Also fun fact about Everett:

In the year of our Lord 2000, while playing for the Red Sox, Everett was suspended for 10 games and fined for head-butting an umpire over the inner boundary of the batter's box.

The umpire?

You guessed it:
