I kinda want to see Moran get a shot at a bench role where he would DH and play some 1B and LF. Almost like another Marwin without the middle infield capability. I liked what I saw and think he made some great adjustments before the injury

I rode hard for Moran this past year. He truly remade his swing and he finally got his shot back up and was capitalizing on it. It would have been a few good story of hard work paying off. I hope he stays on.

By this logic the Dodgers must resign Yu who was rock solid during the season

The Dodgers only traded for Yu to be good in the playoffs. A rental they only needed for October.

Reddick is a fine every day outfielder and excellent teammate we signed for the long haul. He also made big plays to help us beat the Red Sox and Yankees in the playoffs.

BTW, the Grizzlies also called their shot in 2015 (I'll ignore the fact that they canceled the promotion and didn't give any away)

Same. I do believe he almost got dealt for Britton but it worked out better obviously that he didn't. I think he'll compete with tKing for Beltran's roster spot.

No need to sign a position player FA unless Luhnow and Co, find some Morton-like steal.

As for the pen, I think we all expect a signing or trade for a lefty. Signing Watson makes sense based on the projected price.

I would like to see us sign Morrow and let him compete with Giles for the closer's job.

Agree with all that. 2 relief acquisitions that can pitch high leverage innings would be massive for this club. The pen was bad in the playoffs but it wasn’t terrible during the regular season, it wouldn’t take much to make a dominant unit.

Relief ERAs:
Giles- 2.30
Devo- 2.68
Harris- 2.98
Musgrove- 1.44
Peacock- 1.77
(JD Davis- 0.00)

Supplement that with a couple guys and we are set

Wonder if they can just trade Fiers for a good bullpen piece. Gotta find a trade partner short on starters but deeper in the pen.

I think we should approach Altuve now about a big money extension. Don't take ANY chance of insulting him and maybe losing him to FA in 2 years.

After ALCS Game 2, someone posted that all the Stros had to do was go 6-6 and they could still win the World Series.

What did the Stros do? Go 6-6.

Maybe a shitty team would take a chance on him, like the Padres who have a big ballpark

Here is a timeline of the offseason. We can start negotiating with FAs from other teams on Monday.

Nov. 2: Commencement of a five-day, exclusive negotiation window that teams have with their own free agents. (Also, MLBTR’s Top 50 Free Agent rankings with predictions!)
Nov. 4: Deadline for players with opt-out clauses (e.g. Justin Upton, Masahiro Tanaka) to exercise those provisions.
Nov. 6: The deadline for MLB clubs to formally issue one-year qualifying offers (valued at $17.4MM this offseason, as reported by MLBTR) to free agents is 5:00pm ET. Those players will have 10 days to weigh the offers and can negotiate with other clubs during that 10-day window. After that 5pm deadline, all free agents are eligible to begin negotiating with other teams.
Nov. 13-16: General Managers’ meetings take place in Orlando, Fla.
Nov. 20: Deadline for teams to set their 40-man rosters in advance of the Rule 5 Draft.
Dec. 1: Deadline to tender contracts to arbitration-eligible players.
Dec. 10-14: MLB’s annual Winter Meetings take place in Orlando, Fla.
Dec. 14: The Rule 5 Draft is held on the final day of the Winter Meetings.
Jan. 13: Arbitration exchange day — the date on which teams and players must exchange filing numbers for arbitration. Hearings, if necessary, typically begin in early February.
Mar. 29: Opening Day! Baseball is back.

Guess we're just a .500 team now then. Time for a fire sale.

The fact that the Astros have so many of the core guys under control for years is what's so exciting. This could be the beginnings of a legit dynasty. My biggest concerns are the health of SP. Keuchel, McCullers, McHugh all with a history of injury and then Verlander and Morton are no spring chickens. I think we find ourselves putting either Peacock, Martes or Musgrove back into the rotation at some point next year.

Bullpen is the obvious issue and will have the greatest turnover.

No doubt. Peacock will be called upon to start at some point next season. That's a good reason to hold on to Fiers as well if no good trade offers pop up.
