Um no, not really. He was a free agent and took less money so he didn't have to play for them. There couldn't be a better example

I dont see Altuve or Correa going anywhere.

That will be two $200 mil+ contracts. Correa will likely demand Harper like money when it’s his turn.

For you baws to keep everyone down the line (minus Gurriel, he’s old, Giles and Verlander) it isn’t out of the realm of possibility that LMJ would ask for a Kershaw, present-day like contract, and Springer and Bregman 150+ mil.

It would cost a shite ton, but for whatever reason, I? think the core stays together.

And this is not because you are awesome, its because people in New York just fricking suck all around.

He might as well ask for a camel that shits Ben & Jerry's if he is going to make impossible requests.

I hope McCullers gets that good, I don't know that he will though. As long as we keep drafting and developing like we have the success should sustain, Tucker will be up this year and Whitley this or next plus several other good prospects

We both know that contracts for elite pitchers will continue to rise.

Look at the price for guys like Ian Kennedy and Cashner the last few years.

Someone will probably offer Darvish $30 mil a year this offseason too.

McCullers needs to start throwing more than 120 innings if he wants big money

Yeah, didn’t think about his durability. Very fair point.

You're 100% correct about starting pitcher contracts.

But we have seen little from Lance to suggest he will be an elite starter you can actually depend upon for anywhere close to an entire season.

If a team offers him 30, he better take it and run.

It will be something like when greinke signed with ARI for mad money. Will be a team no one is really expecting with payroll to blow so they throw it at him.
