While I tend to agree with you, I'm still up for giving him a shot because we wasted so much time with Carter. Let's at least see what we've got with him by giving him everyday AB's.

I'm just now realizing this but Singleton is the only guy left from the Pence trade.

It's funny you say that given that Singleton is essentially Cater in a best case scenario.
Low batting average, tons and tons of strikeouts, respectable home run totals and an above average walk rate. I think if Singleton were to play the while season and we make an honest predictions it'd be along the lines of
.220 24HR 80RBI 190K 70 walks.
