Marisnick will have to earn an everyday spot before earning the lead off spot IMO, which won't be easy. He definitely has the potential though. We also have at least two guys who have proven they can hit lead off pretty well at the ML level (Altuve and Springer) and I don't remember if Gomez led off in Milwaukee
The news about Jake shortening his swing is great though

Anybody think that Marisnick could have a good enough spring to go into the season leading off?
I dont see it. Who is going to unseat for plating time? Rasmus, Springer or Gomez? Rasmus and Gomez have a proven track record in the majors. You know what you're getting out of those guys. Springer doesn't have the proven track record but you're not taking his skills and upside out of the lineup.
I just don't see the Astros overvaluing a hot spring training and benching or splitting time with one of the current outfielders. Marisnick is a great option as a 4th OF and defensive replacement. He's got the upside to develop into a starter eventually. But remember he hit .379 in April last year and then couldn't hit much higher than .200 the rest of the season.

Springer doubles and wipes out rounding first.

Tucker's stance looks a little different

I see we're wasting no time in running ourselves out of innings.

Duffy didn't look too smooth there. I can see the reason for doubts about him at 3B already.

Lots of ground balls for Fister (his MO). Too bad Duffy can't handle a ground ball

Managed consecutive K's to get out of a jam. Nice.

Solid job by Fister. A few ground balls to 3rd that Valbuena would have made the play on had he'd been in. Then a couple of Ks to close out the inning after the missed defensive plays.

Forgettable beginning for Duffy

Still don't like Singleton's swing.

Tyler White: all he does is hit

Does the Tyler White mainstream movement begin today? Singles his first AB. Roped!

Future team MVP Tyler White with a single.

If I'm Gattis, I'd speed up my rehab. If White takes his DH job, he may never get it back.

Springer HBP. I'll kill a bitch.
