Wheeler is a better pitcher than Nola. Stros lose tomorrow - they probably get swept.

If we manage to piss this one away, I'm about done. Runs like this don't last forever. We won't keep getting chances and how many golden opportunities can be served up to us as if the baseball Gods are saying "hey here's a 5 seed go win a world series." It's not like we're even drawing #1 seeds from the other side. The Braves had the 5th best record in the NL. 88 wins. Phillies had 87 wins and barely snuck into the playoffs and were fricking choking again.

106 wins
87 win wild card team
Home field advantage
Cy Young winner
5-0 lead

And we fricking lost. At some point you put this on the team. It's not one player. It's not a manager. We fricking choked under Hinch too. It's this team. They get to this point and freeze up like little bitches. 4 World Series in 6 years and a piddly arse 87 win wild card team came back from a 5-0 deficit on your field and you never scored again. Weak. Soft as shite.

2019 and 2021 were heart break. 2022 is trending toward absolute disgust. If they lose again, frick em.

It’s not the team

It’s Verlander

If a guy like Jeter can worm his way into being a HOFer over his WS record, JV can definitely frick his bimbo bitch way out of it

Once, twice, thrice, four times?????

No, rwice TIMES FOUR, this guy with a 5 run lead dropped the ball out of his glove to lose again

He got paid for 6 seasons and has accomplished NOTHING

FIERS did as much in ‘17

This dude is the epitome of pyrite

A bit harsh on Verlander, but I agree that he’s been off this postseason.

Didn't the Astros set a record in the WS for stranded runners?

I think they had 11 in Game 1 and 11 in Game 7 alone.

Their M.O. is take an early lead and then never score again.

I don't post on reddit so I have no idea where you got that. Tell your buddy to lay off the liquor next game.

I said Phillies in 5 but you might be right. Stros may get one when they throw our Syndergaard in Game 4

What he did for us this season should stand alone on his merit. Chill out.

Verlander can sit his arse at home the rest of his career. Honestly this Phillies team shows flashes of the Nationals, I have a bad feeling about this one

I am a Phillies fan and this is my analysis.

I thought the Phillies best chance to win any games was Games 1-2 and 5-6. Our 3-4 pitchers are not anywhere near as good as the Astros. As the series wears on the Astros will have the advantage because of the way Thomson manages. He likes to burn up his high leverage pitchers in any game he can win and not worry about tomorrow. So unless Wheeler pitches a complete game or the Phillies jump out to a huge lead you are going to see Alvardo again. Thomson is going to use him vs the middle of the lineup till his arm falls off.

So for tonite I think the Phillies absolutely have to try and pull out a win because when it goes back to Phila all they have is the home crowd. The RP will be spent and they will be throwing out crap starters compared to what the Stros are going to throw out there.

I don't remember who said it earlier, but I think they're 100%% right that Altuve will end up being like Springer in 2017. He had his struggles in the playoffs through the first game of the World Series, then got 5 HRs in the other 6 games, won MVP, and the rest was history. I think Altuve does the same and last night was a start. Good call.
