Louisiana doesn’t have an MLB team. Why is an astros fan in LA any better than anyone else?
Not better, just different. I'm guessing most LA Stros fans are like me and watched damn near every night as a kid and made a trip most summers to watch in person (Astroworld TYFYS). I don't see how the Deep South kid who roots for Red Sox, Yanks, Lakers, cowboys, etc. can't get the same satisfaction as you do by rooting for your local team. Especially not being able to see them in person much or getting regional coverage. To each their own, just my opinion.

mostly arguing because the “call on the field” deference thing always annoys me and I feel like it adds inherent bias to the replay officials regardless of the sport.
I can agree with that. There was a call in the LSU UGA game that comes to mind. The ball very clearly crossed the goal line because of where it was in relation to the ball carrier’s body. It’s an assumption, but one that was absolutely correct. Without the actual shot of the ball crossing; however, they couldn’t overturn it. Things like that are annoying. LSU scored the next play, but still. What if they fumbled the next play?

There's a loyalty factor that goes into being a Louisiana Astros fan. Like you, I've made trips with my parents to see them play as a kid when the likes of Eusabio, Bagwell, and Biggio graced the Astrodome. Also, I followed them when they were the lowest of lows and used to actually get excited when they would score more than 3 runs in a game. Like being a Saints fan, we have experienced a ton of stress and suffering as Astros fans, which is why these past few years have been such a blast to watch.
With that being said (and this is no knock on Red Sox fans), I feel like fan bases such as the Red Sox, Lakers, Yankees, Cowboys, etc. have national followings because either they've consistently won or "it's the cool thing to do." Not saying these fans aren't loyal, but there's something special about supporting a local team that hasn't had that type of consistent success.

The teams you mentioned are on national broadcasts all the time, and people can travel to see them.
This is no different than saying you have to change your astros fandom if you moved to Maine.

If you're a baseball fan from Lousiana the only acceptable teams you can root for are the Astros, braves and maybe the Cubs anything else you're a huge fgt

Red Sox fans, unless they are on the younger side, suffered just the same until 2004.

shite, I was 7 when the Braves won last. Don’t remember shite. I remember losing to the Yankees or astros though. I’m claiming aggrieved status.

Yeah I just don’t like it in situations like this one or the one you described where the official on the field can’t see shite. Either don’t make a call and go straight to replay or throw his call out the window. I wish they had a replay official kept in the dark to what the call on the field was for situations like that but it’s probably a lot to ask
Oh well. I feel good about today, it would be nice to jump on them early for once and not go down to the wire again.
