Dude was safe earlier in the game (late tag). This game should be going to extra innings.

I wish they would let Verducci do post game talk. He's wasted on the field reporter job.

I actually thought tonight was encouraging, as a Yankees fan.
Houston is really good, and a pretty substantial favorite in my eyes. Keuchel has always shoved against the Yankees, and the huge zone (for both pitchers) probably favored Keuchel a little more than Tanaka, just because Keuchel doesn't throw many balls over the plate to begin with. Despite that, the Yankees still gave themselves 2-3 real scoring chances in the game.
2-3 scoring chances wouldn't normally be enough against Houston, but Tanaka pitched well. That's three starts in a row that he's looked good. Houston hit 2-3 deep fly balls to the deepest part of the park, so he was definitely a bit fortunate. But still, he kept Houston off balance for the most part, and kept a great offense in check.
I think it was important for the Yankees to keep Houston from a big fast start and a blowout win. One of the only ways I see the Yankees winning this series is if a handful of guys for Houston go cold on offense. Tonight was a good start. Only 6 hits for the Astros. They hadn't had less than 12 in any of their previous 4 postseason games.
New York's bullpen is fresh going into tomorrow, and they have hit Verlander decently over the last couple of seasons. Also made Houston's closer throw a lot of pitches tonight. Judge looked a lot better at the plate tonight, too. That's encouraging, as they probably can't win this series without a couple of homers from him.
That being said, I still don't think the Yankees will win tomorrow, but it's set up nicely for them to have a good chance.

Yeah, this series is far from over and everything you said is valid.
Glad to get an Astros win with the first game.

If you told me the final was 2-1 I'd have guessed Yanks 10/10 times. I don't trust the bats at home in close games and especially the pen. Glad Hinch yanked Devo. The stage may be too big right now for him.
