That's why that deadspin/Facebook fan map pissed me off. The Rangers never dominated people fanhood in south/east Texas or Louisiana.
I personally know 3 people who I would consider hardcore Rangers fans.

Yeah, there wasn't a glut of Rangers fans when they had Pudge, Juan Gon, Raffy, etc. They sprung up 2010-13 and then poof.

The new rangers fans that popped up during the WS runs were unbearable. People I grew up with suddenly going to games and giving a damn that wouldn't take free season tix with me back in the mid-late 90's.
Always been a Rangers fan, always will be. Even when they break my heart, as they are apt to do.

It was the same with the Astros 2004-05, but Uncle Drayton was too cheap/narrow-sighted to keep the Astros competing for World Series.

Folks are trying to run Daniels out of town for last season. And the beginning of this season isn't helping either.
I've never seen a team so snakebit. JD has made some pretty decent moves, but I don't know if the Rangers will ever see the full potential of them due to the fact that the front liners can't stay healthy. Pretty frustrating.

Yeah, Dallas is and always will be a football town. Nobody did much of anything with the Mavs until Cuban showed up. Rangers have always played 2nd/3rd fiddle, and that will never change.
