I wish Paul Bearer was still alive, him and Sunny hated each other's guts and would be screaming at each other backstage. Gerald Brisco would have to restrain Chris and Candido would yell in his hyper, high pitched voice "DON'T HOOK ME JERRY DON'T HOOK ME!!!"

There was a Hogan-Jarrett match for the title where Jarrett laid down, Hogan pinned him for the title, then left muttering about how crap like that was why the company was in trouble.

I'm not hip to the inside wrestling lingo, but doesn't someone lay down every match?

Match starts, Jarrett lays down on the mat without even being touched, Hogan gets the pin and leaves.

There is the inside term “lays down” but this was a case of Jarrett literally laying down.

When Jim Cornette is asked to be the voice of reason to handle two feuding people, it is a VERY fricked up situation.

I miss Bearer but his shoots by himself and with Cornette were gold, such as both of them shite-talking Kevin Dunn from the WWE production side.

I wish Sunny was more known for what she did in SMW, she was so good on the mic.

Good stuff.

I'm looking forward to this new season. Should be some interesting stuff.

Sting was in horrible shape due to being off for months from wrestling as well as having drug issues.

Exactly, Sting could've still kicked out when Nick Patrick "forgot" to fast count but he was pilled out of his mind. Basically a non a-hole version of 90s HBK.

I guess that makes for some weird symmetry given his subsequent “match” with Jeff Hardy in TNA.

Or they could have went with the original plan instead of changing it last minute because of Hogan.

It all goes back to that contract. Hogan had a habit of changing shite at the last second because they couldn’t stop him from doing it.

He tried a variant of that around 2004-2005 with Michaels and Michaels’ response was to completely oversell everything as a form of protest.

I recently watched a few of these on tubi. That new jack story was crazy af. Made me feel bad for that heavy set kid and his dad who had to watch him get cut like that.

Unfortunately Russo made himself WCW champion a couple of months later.

I definitely remember that and I'm pretty sure that was the end of WCW for me. Then when WWF bought them it ended the Monday Night Wars and that was half the excitement of getting into the whole thing in 97

Yes but it doesn’t change that Russo is completely self serving when challenged on his shite.

Dutch Mantel has talked about Russo blaming him for some of Russo’s own failed ideas, specifically the Last Rites match in TNA. JJ Dillon has also talked about some of the outlandish shite Russo did or tried to do in WCW, such as suggesting they bribe a fire marshal to look the other way after they had been told they couldn’t do his brainstorm of having the entire ring on fire to end the show.

Or Sting could've actually not been pilled out of his mind and been in the best shape of his life since he didn't have to wrestle for over a year. That ruins the #OrangeManBad narrative though.

Yep I ve seen those too..Russo often speaks about the budget/props being limitless at WWF and never being able to replicate that as well elsewhere. I could see him doing some of the stuff Dutch spoke of to try and draw people in, he loves gimmicks.

It's always hard to know who to believe in wrastlin but I think Russo is unfairly typecast as some grand villain that ruined two wrestling companies, he's a convenient patsy for a lot of prideful people who contributed to the demise.

I also question those who suggest McMahon was a larger filter for Russo and Ferrera as Cornette types like to claim. My body of evidence for this is the hot garbage that WWE has been since 2005.

Either way, I like talking old school wrastlin.

Cornette keeping Kenny Bolin down was a much bigger loss to wrestling in my opinion haha
