The day is coming when the big brands will wonder why they’re splitting revenue or at the mercy of smaller schools and will do something about it.

The future of the sport is a super conference with all the biggest brands and maybe a few others that have mega boosters that can make them competitive, half of the teams will make the playoff every year, and everyone else will be left out as essentially the new FCS.

So a NFL model minor league

We're going towards super conferences

why? with conference championship games there is now no concrete way to crown a conference champion in the mega conference.

expanding it just makes it impossible. They are just scheduling cartels and nothing more with the 24 team playoff.

Why would ESPN/FOX give more money to the conference if they add anyone but ND.

None of the ACC schools really move the needle. ESPN already owns the rights to the ACC and their path to playoffs easier.

I think it’s great and hope that this move to college football leaving the conference systems. Remove that sport and let the teams schedule whoever they want. Move all the other sports back to more regional conferences so that you don’t have tennis having to travel across country to play a match. Schools get to have more freedom and increased revenue from football and save money and have more focused efforts on the other sports.

Everyone mad about this but I don’t see why.

“Why does anyone want to see #24 Boise in the play offs?”

Okay but they’d be playing a bowl game anyway. It may as well be “for something”.

Less opt outs, more effort from the players, more excitement for the fans.

The regular season still matters, you just can’t get knocked out by your rival unless you were already borderline.

We need to make the post season harder to get into, not easier.
