Now give me a break if i'm way out of left field here. I've been studying for finals, but what are these saying?

I was always a big proponent of not drafting and trading to get established players. You never will be able to determine what you gonna get in the draft other than say the top 5 picks.

Getting established players in the league costs money. Drafting players costs less. We don't have any money right now.

Basically that drafting costs $ (obviously) and if you can sell the pick for $ that helps your situation and you don't have to pay a player.

Ok I didn't realise we were trading the pick for money instead of a player.

Continue.

yeah i know, just wishing for the best. It's just such a bothersome to always draft in the middle or late rounds and hope you get someone who can play with your guys. Unlike the first 5 players(normally), can start almost immediately

The Hornets aren't yet, it is just a possibility. They did it last year.

Exactly. They are still retarded so it is still a possibility. Right now I would think Shinn has:

1) Saving $
2) Improving the team

If we do this, we need to run more. I like this first round draft pick parts.

Right now the Hornets have two very good to great players and a bunch of mismatch role players. I still think the Hornets can make this team work if they can trade away Peja and Chandler in a package deal for anyone who's contract expires at the end of 2010.

The best deals I can think of (which the other teams might go for) would be Peja, MoPete, and Posey to Houston for McGrady(Houston will be looking to unload him and build some more players around Artest and Ming). And then ship Chandler to Orlando for Alston and Battie (Orlando needs a legit defender nest to Howard and once Nelson is back Alston will be dealt).

I know this makes the Hornets alot worse next year. But then with a good lottery pick and enough money to go after some big free agents the Hornets can be back in the mix.

The Hornets other option would be to somehow convince the Jazz to do a sign and trade centering around Boozer for Peja and slide West to the small forward.

McGrady has one year left on his deal, so there would be absolutely no reason to make a horrible trade like that.

There is absolutely no chance in hell that the Rockets would take on MORE money to get rid of McGrady for Peja, Mo Pete, and Posey.

I'm not going to act like I'm some sort of NBA cap/trade expert, but holy frick, man, there's no way those teams would do that.
