One of the largest detriments of aging is losing your explosive power. Cleans help negate those losses big time. So do all other explosive lifts. its about power transfer.

obviously I wasn't thinking long term. But that is a fair point and a good one.

I exercise to sort of free my mind. I'm not looking to get super ripped or anything. I have a job where on certain days we have to lift things anyway so just an occasional lift at home with the curl bars works for me.

running would be easier/faster if I power cleaned some. I've got the weights necessary for it but would hate to do that alone. So I see the point about joining a group.

And nobody here is doing 200 legit pushups in 2 min. Nobody, its not even really possible to do 200 legit.

200 pushups in 2 mins is something I'd imagine to be physically impossible. I remember at my training peak when I was close to qualifying for some of the events, I hit 85 pushups in a single minute. I thought I was going to have heart failure after. No way could I have come close to replicating that for another minute, and even if I did I only would have been at 170 pushups for two minutes. Add a 20# vest to me for the entire time? Lol at someone thinking they could do that and Sabj is usually pretty spot-on about lifting threads, but he's way off here.

100 legit pullups is the tough one

The pullups part is super easy. As mentioned, kipping is allowed. If you have even decent form, sets of 5 pullups is borderline nothing. It's more of a cardio exercise than any sort of strength movement.

The entire upper body portion of this event is just about maintaining your cardio and keeping your breathing under control. The squats and then run is a decent strength burn on your lower body, but anyone competing in this (especially in the manner where you can breakup the 100-200-300) should basically not even be semi-exhausted as far as their upper body is concerned.

You have to know that this isn't even remotely true.
