Create a 7th BCS conference

I saw this on a couple of other boards and decided to unabashedly steal the idea.
What you do:
- Name it
- Take your pick of teams from any of the non-BCS conferences
- Keep in mind possible rivalries, traveling, etc.
- It can be up to 12 schools, but has to be at least 8
- Will it have a conference championship game in football?
Otherwise, it's up to you.

This sounds like a lot of fricking work.

Can we just take out Vandy, add Clemson, and call it the SEC?

+1
Couldn't we just ditch the Big East and go to 5? It gives the others one more at-large spot!

Eh, not really. It's football talk in July, so it's something I guess.

Better idea:
The seventh conference is Notre Dame. Just Notre Dame. They win the conference every year and get a BCS birth.

OK. Then post all of the Non-BCS schools so I don't have to look them up.

So can we just pick the 8-12 best teams of the non-BCS conferences?

I'd probably have a 12-team conference:
East
Notre Dame
Southern Miss
Memphis
Troy
Central Florida
Houston
West
Boise State
Fresno State
Hawaii
TCU
Utah
Nevada
Something like that.

GWC - Great West Conference
Also - Since this is obviously the "weakest" of the BCS conferences, it could be a relegation conference (every 3 years the bottom 2 are replaced) so only the top 12 teams from the list below are in the conference - kinda like European soccer. This would promote progress and improvement and garner tons of publicity - even for last or near-last place teams who are worried about being relegated out of the Conference.

Rather just go to 10 conferences of 12 teams each. Then you can just make everything regional
Back to top
