did look up the over-all stats and only four teams have losing records vs pacten teams. USC doesn't even have a winning record vs the SEC.It will take 24 more games for the PacTen to even catch up.

I think he is talking more recent, as in the past decade, when the SEC was presumably hitting on all cylinders

With the exception of LSU over last place Arizona, the bottom half PAC-10 teams fair better vs the SEC, than do the bottom half SEC teams.

If you do not believe me do a little research and you will see.

I think you are a bit off with this one. There's a Tennessee loss last year to Cal (after blowing Cal out to start the prior year) that you might want to point to but meh...

Go back and look again at the matchups. That includes of course LSU (with ahem a nine game winning streak against the PAC) and UGA over ASU this year for example.

It also includes mismatches like USC vs Auburn, USC vs Arkansas, Oregon vs Miss State - all of those were mismatches and would tell you nothing unless there had been upsets

There just haven't been compelling equal seeds matched up from each conference lately... esp the #1 from each conference

I think we would have smoked 04 Auburn.

USC does in fact have a winning record vs the SEC. So I question your data.

Links check every matchup between the conferences since either 1992 when the modern SEC was formed or just this decade. use CFDW for a quick look-up

How is USC over Arkansas in 2006 a mismatch? They were the SECW champions that season.

Are you really this stupid?? Computer models become more accurate as more data is present. Anyway do you really want to bet on who wins more Sagarin favorites or Sagarin underdogs? You would lose big-time.

LMAO...Calling me names will not make the PacTen any better. Sagarin has a line and so does many many many Vegas oddsmakers. They are different. Some are accurate and others are not. There is no way to prove Sagarin is always right about the spread. They may be right about who wins but so is the rest of America. Then again how hard is it to pick a fav/underdog?

Using computer polls is the worst thing to ever happen to college football. It gave us the BCS and the worst determiner for a NC.

Of course no system is always going to be right, that is not possible.

The crux of this argument is that you say the PAC-10 is horrible while I say that half of the PAC-10 is among the best 25 teams in the nation. I used relavant data to support my position, while you did not.

Revelant data does not equate computer generated Sagarin ratings. You dispute the rest of the country. You only choose Sagarin ratings because it suits your arguement. I would never choose a computer to pick anything involving human factors.

It's just funny how Ruffalo talks up the PAC 10 as being better than the SEC

I don't recall him saying that.

He may not have said it word for word, but read this thread, every post he is arguing in favor of the PAC 10 over the SEC in terms of conference strength.

I also used the Vegas poll. That is humans. Far better experts than the AP or the coaches poll

I responded to you for two reasons. First, I am done talking to anyone about conference strength when it comes to the SEC and PAC-10. It is a non-debatable issue, where no justifiable argument exists.

Secondly, you chimed in to respond to me in a response to Ruffalo, arguing on his behalf to support his claim that Oregon is a program on an equal or better level than LSU.

Your statement was inaccurate. I pointed that out. Oregon had success on a national elite, BCS level how many times in the last decade? How did their team fare when their QB went down? Have they showed a sustained level of success anywhere near LSU?

The jackass I regretfully decided to originally respond to actually believes Oregon and Oregon St. are better programs, much less teams, at the present time. He concludes this after LSU loses three games to top 10 teams in a year of transition at the QB position which includes a dismissal and a season ending injury. Throw in that the starting QB has set a CAREER record for INT's returned for TD's and lacks a defensive coordinator.

And Oregon and Oregon St. have accomplished exactly what over the last millenium.

If my post was misdirected, I apologize. I'm not responding to Ruffalo, and your response was the next closest thing. Many of your responses in this thread could be confused for his.

I said that this year Oregon and Oregon St. are better than LSU. I did not say that they have overall better programs.

I made one statement. Oregon had a damn good shot at an NC last year before injuries.

You did load up beating on the Mac, Conf. USA, the Sun Belt, and 1AA teams though. Congrats.

Looks like playing the MTN West was a bit too big a load for the Pac-10
