re: Couldn’t find a thread about Alabama fans being homophobic and also racist, so here

I can remember being at LSU and going to games with a guy who was obsessed with calling the other team "figs". It was stupid 40 years ago. But the stupidity of it didn't bother me. What bothered me was that it was unimaginative. The correct thing to do, the intelligent thing, the actual amusing thing, is to make Texas-specific insults. Never personalize it, especially on race, which is just low and ignorant and reflects poorly on you. There is an art to the butthurt insult, and the key is it has to be clever and have a tinge of truth to it. But Bama fans, so probably impossible.

A segment of these college fans love their schools & obssess over their sports , but aren't generally fond of the "75 percenters" that dominate their big time athletics.

All you can do is make the young students aware before they sign the the letter of intent.
