I have zero experience designing a playbook from scratch, teaching said playbook, play calling, creating a game plan, changing the gameplay at halftime, etc.

That's the easy part of being the HC. And you could hire people that would do all of that while you act as a CEO. Being a HC is all about managing people and resources. That's why some great coordinators never pan out as HCs, and some young nobody can lead a team successfully. If a person has great leadership skills, the football part of it is just a bonus.

I helped coach my kid's flag football team about 5 years ago. We lost every game we played.

Most of the kids on our team ended up playing tackle years later too. In 3 years, their school team has lost once.

So no. I'd be pretty terrible at that.

You have to have rep to be an effective CEO coach

Otherwise you’re dealing with parents, the school board, assistants, the booster club, etc. who want your credit. Poor Todd Garvin never had a chance

Nope. I'd get ejected, suspended, and ultimately fired for standing up to the refs.

Could you finish .500?

Coached high school ball for 20 years. My record each year had more to do with my players than my coaching. Plenty of great high school coaches finish with a losing record in a given year while mediocre ones win championships.

That said, in a high school game, I will take John Doe in the stands as HC with great players and good high school assistants over a dream team of Smart, Harbaugh, Reid, or whoever with a bunch of shite on the field.

Players and what they can do is just more important to winning. Sean Payton won a Super Bowl and got his arse run off the field twice in a Pop Warner league by a team called the Orange Porcupines that was probably coached by someone who drives a Pepsi truck during the week.
