Tyson would be eating those jabs all night and would never get close enough to land one of his bombs.

Why? 19 year old Tyson bobbing-weaving and bull-rushing...never had a problem pounding the ribs of taller men until they dropped their guard and BOOM...best uppercut since Marciano.

Name one opponent young Tyson couldn't get inside on?

and he beat a better Tyson than Lennox did (I was never a fan or sold on Lewis.)

I have never liked Lewis but damn if he wasn't really good. One of the more SKILLED boxers for his size ever. He could be KOd though. He did have two fights with Holifield, one was a terrible draw that he obviously won. The other was a much closer fight that he was named the winner. Him and Evander were pretty close in age and had both been fighting a long time so I hate to see the age excuse for Evander. I am a much bigger EH fan then I am Lewis, but that is the way I have always seen it.

The version of Tyson when Cus was alive, I don't know if anyone could beat him. Other versions, who knows.

I've always said the same, but that window was so short that it really is unfair to say that Tyson was unbeatable in that stretch. Who knows.....I certainly don't. What I do know is that if you look at Tyson's entire career he isn't even close to a top 10 fighter IMO. Best Prime? Maybe, but I just don't know if it is fair considering how short that really was.

I know he was old then...but Larry Holmes had arguably the best jab in the history of boxing and Tyson had no problem getting past it...I have a hard time believing that Vlad or his brother would be able to keep Tyson on the outside.

I think we've been so starved for quality HWs that people are looking at those brothers as better than they really are.

Holmes was pretty well past it when he fought Tyson. It was well known even in Tyson's prime that he had trouble with taller fighters. Watch any documentary about him and they will talk about it. Had Holmes been in his prime we could have seen Tyson against a world class Jab fighter. But that didn't happen. I wish Tyson's management wouldn't have fallen apart and we could have seen a career from him with no excuses, but unfortunately that isn't the case. The guys he fought in his prime make him look invincible and it is impossible to know whether that is in fact the way it is or not.

You might want to go check Holmes' record before the Tyson fight and after the Tyson fight...Holmes was still a very good heavy weight when Tyson destroyed him.

Holmes was 38 when he fought Tyson. You might consider that prime for a Heavyweight, but I don't.

When Holmes fought Tyson, he hadn't won a fight in nearly 3 years.

Sure he was old in 1988...but he did come back in 1992 and beat Ray Mercer (the undefeated 1988 Olympic Gold Medalist) and then lost to Holyfield in a 12-round decision.

"In 1995, he fought Oliver McCall (who knocked out Lennox Lewis) for the WBC title. Holmes lost by a close twelve-round unanimous decision. Two of the judges had him losing by only one point, while the other judge had him losing by three points."

I agree with all of this. I think Mike Intimidates both these big guys by his walk to the ring. The 1st round would be brutal for either of them.

Agree again.

The problem is, Vitali can take Tyson's best shots I doubt Tyson could take Vitali's best

All I know is that Tyson owes me some major dollars for the pay-per-view fight parties he ruined with first round TKOs.

Just shows you how good he must have been when he was 27ish.

No one is going to take Tyson's biggest shots when he was young. However, he would have to get in position to even throw those shots and Vitlali could possibly keep him away with that style. Vitali is a much bigger man then Tyson was at that time.

Well...this is why Tyson is such an enigma. No one can agree because his career is so bi-polar...it shows his greatness and his glaring weakness...most fighters last awhile - fighting different up and comers over different periods...Tyson was a shooting star...who fought a lot of bums, looked awesome...went to prison, came back...and whatever he once had was gone or to others...he finally got exposed. Who knows? But fear can defeat any man's skill...and if you were alive and watching Tyson in 1986-1988...you know that nobody in the heavyweight division wanted to fight this guy. Except Foreman...he was claiming early on that Tyson was a fraud and he would expose him...old George needed a pay day before his grilling machine days.

I disagree Vitali can take those shots and keep coming for more. Tyson on the other hand could not.
