In terms of posterity...Holmes and Holyfield would be Tyson's signature wins...but Holmes was old and fat...and Tyson lost twice to Holyfield.

Michael Spinks is Tyson's best win. Spinks is a much better boxer than anybody either of the Klitschkos has ever beaten.

And that's sort of sad for Tyson.

Like I said, he really needed to beat someone like a younger Holmes or at the very least beat Evander.

Spinks= 32-1

LHeavyWeight Champ. 1981-
HeavyWeight Champ. 1985-1988

Spinks lost one pro fight in his life, & it was to Tyson.

Holyfield would be Tyson signature win, if it would have happened,
but Holyfield beat him twice by KO

Tyson was a completely different fighter when he was coming up the ranks. He actually tried to get out of the way of punches and reply with bombs. That said, the Kitcho bros and Lennox Lewis def. are the type of fighters that gave him trouble and all 3 are more skilled at doing just what gave him trouble then anyone he fought in his prime sans an over the hill Larry Holmes.

no, it really wasn't. Michael Spinks was a great boxer. Michael Spinks was not a great Heavyweight. And was beat before the fight ever started. He was a chicken shite looking for a big payday and basically bent over and let Tyson frick him in the arse for a second before taking a dive. Nothing impressive about that win at all for Tyson except the intimidation.

There are several dudes Tyson beat that would have fricked Spinks up as a Heavyweight.

That may be true...but we're talking about posterity (at least I was) name guys.

From that 15 year period (discounting Lennox Lewis) there's only 3 guys anyone is talking about in the HW division...Holmes, Tyson and Holyfield. Holmes was old and Holyfield beat him...those would have been his two biggest name victories when judging all-time HW. Spinks (sadly) is probably the third biggest name HW...and the only real victory - if you want to call it that - Spinks did beat Holmes twice.

I agree, so who was the next best fighter Tyson beat??
Larry Holmes? The fighter Spinks beat twice?

Holmes was 43 years old and went the distance with Evander Holyfield. George Foreman also went the distance with Holyfield as well. Boxing might be the only sport where the quality of its top athletes has gone down dramatically over the years.

Holmes was 43, Foreman was 42, and Lewis got robbed in the first fight and won the second. The two fights against Tyson and the second fight against Bowe are the only good wins on Holyfield's heavyweight resume. If you add in how good he was at Cruiserweight, his resume is still good enough to make him a top 40 boxer of all-time but I have a hard time putting him as a top 10 all-time heavyweight.

I have a lot of respect for Holyfield moving up as cruiserweight and the way he fought but the guy lacked power. Forget KO's, he rarely knocked down heavyweights.

I would put Tyson out of the top 10 too but put Holyfield just inside the Top 10...he has a pretty good overall resume...and he beat a better Tyson than Lennox did (I was never a fan or sold on Lewis.)

The Mike Tyson with his original team when he started could have dominated in just about any era.

The death of his mentor and signing with Don King was his downfall.

Both Klitschkos would take Tyson apart. Wlad could get knocked out, but Vitali would just laugh and beat Tyson into a bloody pulp. Tyson would be eating those jabs all night and would never get close enough to land one of his bombs. If he did, they would just lean on him.
