Saw Auburn win the BCS National Championship in Arizona. My seats were pretty close to the entrance tunnel and right after the game endded a bunch of the players (including Cam Newton, Mario Fannin and Wes Byrum) high-fived us as they were going back in.
Was at the first ever Washington Nationals game in DC and John McCain was sitting about three rows in front of me.

I was a last minute replacement jockey in the 1998 Kentucky derby. My only opportunity to race there. Will cherish that forever even though we finished middle of the pack.

I went to a practice round during the PGA Championship at Hazeltine. Fred Funk's caddy went to get a sandwich while Fred's group was on the tee box. His caddy wasn't back when they started walking down the fairway. Fred asks this kid standing next to me if he wanted to caddy for him. The kid was about 10 years old and asked his dad if it was OK. The golf bag was almost dragging on the ground. Fred's caddy saw this and came running. Fred hollered to him and said, "You're too late, you've been replaced." Fred was a crowd favorite that whole week.

These stories are awesome. Wish there was some more stuff to read about.
I forgot about my only caddy story, but that's cause it's not all that impressive. I caddied the Wichita Open for a Monday qualifier and we played about 7 holes of a practice round with Jonathan Vegas and Jason Gore. Vegas went on to win the tournament that year and make his mark on the PGA tour the next year. The whole time they were more interested in talking about my high school athletic career then they were to my golfer.

We went to Tampa for ST the year Griffey went to the Reds. We followed him from his car to his room to see what his room # was. We got back to our room and I prank called his room using quotes from Griffey's video game. He tells me, "kid, come to my room, I'll give you something if you stop calling."
So I get to his room and he invites me to get on the sticks for a game of KGjr Baseball! We go 5 innings, he says he's got to get to the park. He pops out the game, signs it, and hands it to me and sends me on his way. Then I hollered at him at the park the next day and he gave me a bat. Pretty cool

Martin Kaymer hitting a hole in one skipping it across the lake on 16 at the Masters in practice rounds
I'm drunk so I can't think of anything better but that's the most recent I've seen in person

That's awesome. Besides Chipper, Griffey is my all time favorite.

Got hammered with Anthony Kim at the PGA at Oakland Hills in 2008. Buddy was playing and we were partying at his rental house. Anyway, AK almost shoots an entire fifth of Petron and is folded over in the corner. An OT baller calls his bookie in Dallas and wants to know who AK is up against on the betting line on Saturday. Turns out it is Phil Micklelson. I think Micklelson was 140/100 favorite. Baller puts $50,000 on Mickelson. Bookie says you never bet golf, you know something I don't? Next day was not close, AK shot a bunch.

damn thats awesome. its crazy to think how many HRs he would have hit if he didnt get hurt so much. that and the fact that he is never mentioned in any steroids report

quote:I have a few buddies that play golf here at KU. They said Gary Woodland came back and told them that Anthony Kim and DJ weren't out with injuries, but because they were having a little to much fun with the yeyo. Don't know how much truth their is to that. Also, they had a a nude picture floating around the team that was supposedly Holly Sonders. Woodland sent that to the group as well as one of his buddies on tour was apparently hitting that.

I've heard from my buddy that is still out there the same thing. A follow up to the AK story is the next April, at The Masters, we pull in to the players lot and AK and his dad pull in right behind us. AK looks at me as if he's seen a ghost and shakes his head as if to say, don't mention what happened at the PGA.

I went to the Saints-Jaguars game in 2003 with a buddy when the River City Relay occured. Despite the goof by John Carney on the extra point, that was the coolest thing I've ever seen at a football game. We kept thinking the play would get over turned because it looked like Donte Stallworth threw a forward lateral to Michael Lewis from where we were sitting.
At first I was pissed off that we had lost. Even if the Saints had won though, their playoff chances would have still been pretty slim I think. It was about an eight hour drive on the way home and by the time we were near the Crestview, Fl. exit, we were both laughing at how crazy that play was and how neat it was to see it in person. I'll probably never get that lucky again.

Oh, I forgot. I took a shite in the players locker room at Augusta National. I then called my dad on the courtesy phone to let him know. He was proud.

That's classic. Sounds like your buddy is quite a player if you're getting to hang out at all these sick events. I've had a few friends play major college golf and try the Hooters tour and Nationwide tour, but they haven't had much success. When we were younger we used to talk about how fun it would be to just cruise the tour if anyone ever broke out. I was gonna caddy and play as much as possible while he funded the entertainment. What a pipe dream that was.
For a pretty school story not occurring at a event, I met Shaq and saw Tiger in the same day at the Windermere Isleworth neighborhood in Orlando. My uncle ran lines for ATT and is a really cool guy. We show up at the gate, he flashes the Employee ID, and they let him right in. When we pull up to the front of Shaq's house he goes watch this. Rings the buzzer, tells him its Paulie, and the gate opens. Shaq comes out of his house and we shoot the shite with him for like 35 minutes in the garage from cribs. Coincidently I was wearing LSU stuff so we had a pretty good conversation.
Apparently my uncle met him at a Club in downtown Orlando during the early 90's and used to stop by here and there to go say hi. Shaq said he liked me uncle cause he was a 5'8" but not scared of anyone. All I could do was

I worked as a bouncer at The Gold Club in San Francisco while I was attending film school. Lots of celebrities and athletes would come in there. Woodson was sort of a regular when he played for da Raiders haha.
Anyway, I was a big fan of Vince Carter at the time. I was always looking for the next Jordan (my all-time fav player). VC could dunk like nobody else at the time. So he came in for the All-Star weekend and I hooked him up free at the door and walked him upstairs to the VIP section and had the cooler girls come over to him, etc. He gave me tickets to the weekend and I got to see him first hand with the some of the best dunks ever at the Slam Dunk competition. He also autographed my ticket. Word.
