ing this on ESPN? If I were FOX I'd be super pissed that the UFC is making these type of announcements on their competitor's shows instead of breaking the news on FOX, who pays the UFC big money for TV rights.
That is such a good point. There's guys at the Mothership that look down at the sport, yet they go crawling over there rather than going to your partner who loves everything UFC. if I'm a FOX executive I'd be pissed

Anybody who thought it was something besides money has probably never followed Conor closely. Before the Nate fight, he was almost as big as the UFC. If he had won that fight, he could've gotten anything he wanted. When he lost, he lost his bargaining power. ETA: Somebody above was talking about how Conor is the biggest draw. That's been true recently. Jon Jones returning and Ronda Rousey coming back late in the year gives the UFC some serious revenue-raising star power. Not the best time for Conor to get greedy.
I disagree, now is the perfect time because the main events have been falling out in well over half of the events this year and Ronda is still out and I don't think the UFC feels too confident about her right now.. Jones has never been that big of a draw, although he is rising, and who knows if Ronda is ever coming back. Even though Conor lost he still is going to break the all-time PPV record the next time he fights so he should be getting whatever he asks for. He means so much to the UFC besides just PPV buys. When they renegotiate contracts with overseas networks like Globo having Conor on the roster adds tens of millions to the contracts, Conor makes household names out of everyone he fights, anyone that has a good fight on a card he is on gets a HUGE ratings boost the next time they fight, ratings for any of his potential future opponents fights become much larger, the UFC can charge sponsors way more when he is on the roster, the UFC video game is way bigger with him in it, he brings millions of new viewers to the UFC with every fight and I could go on and on and on. All of those are things that can be measured and I am sure his management team has the analytics that show exactly how much revenue he brings to the UFC outside of just his PPV sales, gates and merchandise sales. When people say he shouldn't get 20-30 million a fight the are saying that because they aren't looking at the entire picture, they only look at PPV and the gate. The UFC WILL cave in eventually and when they do I would bet they will wish they had paid him what he asked for at first.

How do you dominate a scripted entertainment industry?

Not aimed at you Bojangles
The Rock/Dwayne Johnson has made over how many hundreds of millions of dollars spring boarding from one scripted entertainment industry to another?
Stone Cold made how much money pretending to beat up his boss? Wrestlers that are over make millions and millions of dollars. People like Connor who are already over and established get preferential treatment in the WWE.
He could easily jump and make boatloads if he wanted to.
Dude is charismatic as frick on a mike and already a household name in most circles...not advocating for Connor to go to wrestling however it would be far from the dumbest thing he could do if he was leaving the UFC.

I look at who he lost to, and say he's still dominant.
He did Dana a favor by taking these last couple of fights.

Agree with everything you said there.
I don't want to see Conor go to wrestling because he is such a good fighter and has been very big for the growth of UFC.
If it's money that he wants though, WWE can provide so much more for him in that regard than UFC ever could. Add in the fact that he already has a huge fan base and his personality fits wrestling perfectly. I could easily see him making the jump. Even if it's just for a little while to make Dana realize how much he means to the UFC.

Would be pretty wild for him to jump to WWE, but he's a small guy compared to most of the top wwe stars, would be funny to see him in the ring with someone 100+ lbs bigger

It must have to do something with the Reebok deal right? From what I understand, the top fighters hate it because of the loss of outside sponsors.

yeah that would be strange to me. I am assuming he walks around at most 185. has their ever been a star wrestler that light? I havent watched wrestling since I was a kid but fricking hulk hogan was 6'8 330 lbs.

Punk has to be around the weight. You also have Daniel Bryan who was forced to retire and Shawn Michaels one of the greats.

at 5'9 170 and lean he could honestly put on a good 10-15 more body building pounds and look like a shredded Rey Mysterio, CM Punk, or Shawn Michaels. Wrestlers lie about their weight/height/hgh usage all the time. In 3 months with boots you could be looking at a Conor that is 5'11 and 210lbs. If his ring skills are average he could headline off marketability alone.

The ONLY way Conor would do WWE would be for special appearances like Money May did. He is most likely going to fight again when the money is right but until then he will either do movies, the occasional appearance or maybe nothing at all besides hanging with the family and training. He holds all of the cards here.

I'm not complaining, but I am definitely surprised how many random posters showed up for this and posted in here, but not for a fight thread. Conor definitely has some superstar potential, but I feel like he's being mismanaged. Will be interesting to see how his career ends....I'll tune in.

The reaction this has received must have the UFC shitting itself...

it's bad man.
I don't know any other business that can continually pull the rug out from under their customers and keep things growing and going well.
McGregor has saved their asses multiple times.
Pay the guy, bring him in as a partner, keep fanning his flames. Obviously he needs to train like crazy to make up the ground on Diaz. Fly a camera crew to Iceland if you have to, use footage you already have. Find answers and solutions rather than engage in a pissing contest.

I feel like the ufc is doing their best to hang on to the power they have now over the fighters. if the fighters union up the ufc brass will be in deep shite.
