Well, prove me wrong.
Kind of convenient that the NO team was the only team owned by the league at the time of the draft and all popular opinion was that part of the sale was the #1 pick. Kind of funny how that came to fruition even though the NO team had a very small chance of it, right?

#1 They wouldn’t do it for a small market team.
#2 All kinds of people are part of the process to make sure it is legitimate.
#3 Something like that would have come out and killed the reputation of the league
#4 The basketball gods rewarded the Pelicans franchise with the pick because they were one of the only non tanking teams in the lottery that season.

This isn’t popular opinion, this is internet tinfoil opinion.
The lottery drawing is overseen by one of the big 4 accounting firms, Ernst & Young, who would be dumb as frick to risk their reputation on fixing a basketball draft.
Moving up from 4 to 1 is not a very small chance, it was 13.7%. The bulls moving from 9 to 1 to get rose was very small, 1.7%. It’s a lottery though. Both teams won it.
