Plauible yes. It is also plausible that the BR City Champ on e great and lucky day can beat Phil on one of his worst and unlucky days

I don't think you understand how good these elite are at the NCAA...

Cantlay finished +1 at the US Open this year...you're telling me that all of the top20 on the PGA Tour this year finished ahead of him?

The top NCAA 20 or 30? Consistently handle the pressures of a PGA tourney? Come on

I do. I don't think you understand how good the top 20 on the PGA tour are. He stated they "WILL" beat them, not just can.

On a consistent basis, hell no. But over one tournament, yes.

On any given day or tournament, these top NCAA golfers can compete with the top Tour players. That's all he was saying IMO

Even that is falso though. Sure the 30th ranked golfer could go shoot a 65 at a tournament. Doesnt mean he can compete on tour. I think either way you look at it, it was a pretty dumb statement.

agree and there is a reason that this is the most accurate statement:

quote:

Frankly, there aren’t 30 guys in college who are going to be on our tour in three years,” said David Duval

Peterson never once said any of the NCAA golfers could handle the grind of the Tour.

they are good no doubt but not much better,IF AT ALL, than the guys Peterson just beat on the nationwide tour this week.

His comments were not that far off .. I think his use of the word "WILL" was kinda of strong but I beat if they play ten times the college guy would win 4 or 5 times ..

I find it funny he's commenting on being able to compete.

I have a friend who is a rookie on tour. He played at stanford. Won the team national championship his freshman year. Was a very good amatuer. (youngest to ever qualify for the us amateur, went to the semis twice i think). He makes about half the cuts on tour, and is 180 something on the money list. The tour is a completely different ballgame.

because it is crazy hard to get on the PGA tour. Ask David himself. It took him a few tries to make it and once he did he had a lot of success. The talent on the nationwide tour is every bit as good as it is on the PGA Tour - IMHO ...

It is A LOT harder at getting on tour than it is staying on tour ...

I don't think anyone does, because no one's been there. If your going to use this as the basis of the argument your trying to make, it's not going to be very sound.

I'm scratch and could have played in college, but opted out to have fun at LSU...and I have NO CLUE what these players are like, and I've played with tour pros before. You don't know unless your there.
