Wrong, we laughed first.

I'm not sure how this notion that "LSU fans laughed at their joke of a coach Miles from the very beginning" lines up with the fact that the man coached at LSU for a long time.

If everybody in the world thought that he was a clown and joke of a coach, I guess he held the job because he recruited well and had a good winning percentage?

It's a bit puzzling.

I'm unpersuaded. Maybe a few LSU fans thought he was a joke of a coach, but, he held on for far longer then he was any good because, LSU fans liked his public image.

I looked at Les Miles's W/L record at Oklahoma State and saw a mediocre to "maybe" slightly above average coach.
Then I wondered to myself, "LSU was unable to find something better than THIS guy?!? LSU really sucks at finding great coaches."

In November 2011, Les Miles was on even footing with Nick Saban. They both had one NC with their new school, and it looked like Miles was going to get his second NC first.

And then..........

Because fans usually don’t make decisions to hire and fire coaches. Can’t believe this is news to you. He lost the Arizona State game, his first at LSU if not for a bad call that allowed a TD late for us to win that one then he blew a 21-0 halftime lead against a bad Tennessee team with no QB at Tiger Stadium the very next week. We had 0 first downs in the second half until a Hail Mary on the last play of regulation despite a roster that included 4 top 6 picks, with a #1 overall QB, a future HOF left tackle, a multi time All Pro, and 3 other 1st rounders. Those of us who know anything were laughing at him after a game and a half.

Thanks for admitting you’re wrong and made false statements.

Paterno and it’s not close. Went from beloved figure to being known for looking the other way on the one thing that even the most hardened criminals would judge you for.

As you should have. Just about any other coach has LSU playing for a NC in 2006 and 2007 (and not as a 2 loss team). They should have been in contention in 2005, although USC and Texas starting the year 1 and 2 probably prevents even an undefeated LSU team from being in the BCSNCG that year.

Miles seemed to finally have a lot of things together in 2011, but they 21-0 happened. I'm convinced they only reason he kept his job at LSU so long is so many people at LSU wanted to say "See you can still win at a high level without being a dick like Saban!" He was at LSU for 11.25 seasons and lost at least 2 games every year but 2011. With the talent LSU had over those years that should be criminal.

Remind me, please, what did I say that was false and where did I admit that I was wrong.

I only ask because I'm rarely wrong and I never make false statements.

I agree with all of this, but, most LSU fans are so defensive and subjective that they get angry when somebody expressed this opinion. Why do they react so emotionally?

It might be because the are FANATICS, which is what a "fan" is!

Besides the blow-up with Fournette and the clock management at the end of the Auburn game, one of the biggest reasons he was fired was because Nick Saban had left him in the dust.

If Nick Saban wasn't in the same division of the same conference as LSU, Les Miles might have stayed even longer.
