You're the one who is rewriting history
Miles' DC and OC joined his staff at his choice. He had to sign off on Brady. He and his staff recruited the players.
You pretend like all he had to do was "not mess up" when he had to build the team and the staff to even get to the point of "not messing up." And "not messing up" is so simplistically vague that it means little. LSU went undefeated and his team utterly destroyed most teams on the schedule.

So with hindsight that OC and the DC were the critical components to go undefeated in the best season in CFB history ever, and O knew "not to mess that up" even though the year before LSU was barely an average football team.
