I find it mind boggling how Maine, and apparently I guess Massachusetts too, are closer to almost the entire continent of Africa than Florida is. Although I guess Miami is closer than Boston to the very southernmost part of South Africa.

Can’t wait to readjust this map when the SuperSonics come back.

Guess people don't know the shape of Earth.

I know the shape of the earth and I had already heard that Maine was closer to Africa than Florida is (Although I didn’t know that the same was true of Massachusetts.) But it’s still pretty weird.

Wouldn't all franchises be exactly the same distance from ALL places on Earth?

The closest world capital to Barrow, Alaska is...Reykjavik.

I love Antarctica. It’s almost all controlled by the Heat, except for the western edge that’s controlled by the Golden State Warriors.

That’s probably another thing that’s due to the shape of the Earth. How far east/west a team is doesn’t matter that much for the distance to Antarctica since the East/West distances are so short in Antarctica. So just due to being the southernmost NBA team, the Heat ends up controlling about the eastern 90% of Antarctica.

There seems to be another weird quirk in the map if you look at Southern Chile. Almost all of South America is controlled by the Heat, but Southern Chile seems to be controlled by some white coded team. I think, although I’m not positive, that that’s the San Antonio Spurs.

Correct. Many people forget how far east South America is to North America.

Who gives a shite? What franchise is closer to Congo? You think they are buying tickets or watching the Celtics?

Seems like an OT thread
