I realize hindsight is 20/20 BUT hear me out. The Giants were looking for two first round picks for ODB Jr.

The Browns could have:
Taken Baker at #1, traded 2018 #4 overall and 2019 1st to the Giants for Odell— which would have given NYG the 2018 2nd and 4th overall picks.

NY would have bit on the bait as this would have allowed them to get their guy in Saquon AND get their QB of the future, which they made very clear they’re looking for after benching Eli last year...Cleveland still has three 2nd round picks (#33, #35 and #64), so even if NYG didn’t bite on the initial offer and demanded they sweeten the pot, they could throw in a second round pick on top of the two 1st’s and would have STILL had the opportunity to grab some quality guys tomorrow to sure up the secondary/add depth to the backfield behind Carlos Hyde.

Jarvis/Odell/Gordon would be a handful for any opposing D regardless if it’s Baker or Tyrod under center. It would have been a big league move to add that kind of weapon for your young QB— especially at that cost.

That team has other glaring issues that aren't wide receiver, dumb move.

You don’t need that much capital in wrs this isn’t madden. They have Coleman who has plenty of potential to be a 3rd wr(who they took in rd 1 in 2016) and Njoku( drafted in first last year) who is a good young pass catching TE.

They need someone that isn’t complete dogshit throwing to them.

Very true. I don’t have a rooting interest in either team or the hypothetical scenario. Was just thinking about something that would have added some excitement.

Better than what they did!

If I was Cleveland...and I said this before the draft. I would have taken Barkley #1...the best offensive lineman #4 to replace Joe Thomas...and Mason Rudolph at #33. He put up the same numbers as Mayfield in the same conference...and is 6'5".

You get your QB, Running back, and Lineman.

But Cleveland is the Factor of Sadness for a reason.

There’s only one football to go around. It’s really not necessary to have a loaded 1-2 punch in the NFL at WR. The Pats WRs we’re getting wide arse open vs the eagles secondary in the SB and they consisted of castoffs such as Hogan and Amendola.

It sounds nice, but why have these 3 guys with an unproven QB and no defense to show for it yet.

What Cleveland should do from here is draft Josh Jackson at CB and Guice at RB to start tomorrow if I were them. Solidify the CB position and get your RB. Im 99.9% sure they get a RB with one of those 2 picks and they are lucky Guice fell. If they get Chubb, that is cool too.

Haha i think Denzel Ward is going to be a stud. I didn’t say “Cleveland Browns should have” done anything differently, I said “what if”— I just thought it would have been exciting had they taken Baker at #1, traded the #4 and next year’s pick for Odell, taken Guice at #33 and Jackson at #35.

It would be cool to see Odell/Jarvis/Guice in the same NFL uniform. Not sure why this post ruffled so many feathers.

Well, "IF" they had those 3 guys on their offense taking up 1/3rd of their cap while their defense was STILL arse, they would STILL be the laughing stock of the NFL.

It does sound good for them, but they are better off with Ward and next years top 5 pick than having Odell imo.

no doubt, I agree, but they need to invest in other areas.

hahah my feathers aren’t ruffled one bit bro. They’re more than ready to flap on Saturday night.

Tbh I’m ready to be done talking about a hypothetical Browns trade and I’m sure you are too.

Guice at RB

They have carlos Hyde and duke Johnson. No need to spend a high pick on Guice

Cleveland needs guys on the lines now. They have plenty of good skill players on offense for a team that went 0-16

I think they could have picked Barkley 1 and still gotten Baker at 4.

This is like when you trade away all your draft picks for top players, then season two of franchise hits and nobody re-signs and your whole offensive line is made up of 16 yr old punters.

The more I think about it, the more I think Cleveland should go all in on “a process” like the 76ers. Trade this year’s firsts for 2020 and 2021 firsts. Trade your 2nd round picks for 2021 firsts and second round picks. Do the same next year. Then in 2020 make some big RFA tenders to bring in some 4 year players and have two years with 10 or so first and second round picks.

You are bound to at least get some talent to start building around and will have big cap space to land a big free agent in 2022 or 2023.
