With pay and benefits they make more than you ??... college kids should feel honored to play ball and GIVEN an opportunity to advance in life... I was paid much less and was shipped to Iraq as a 21 year old... poor little football players being mistreated... Really bruh?

People that work for Apple don't make billions just because the CEOs do.

Correct. If everything changed and players were paid, the players would be getting less than they do now. If they are gonna pay them then the players will actually have to pay for the shite they get free now.

They make a taxable wage for their services. A paid for apartment is just a perk for their service. That O'Bannon 9th circuit opinion opened a door that you guys will see soon enough.

Uhhh

If you told me I could not pay student loans and fees and all I had to do was suit up for LSU and play football I'd consider it a fricking deal.

My degrees were from McNeese and again if I could suit up for them for the same fricking deal I'm all over it.

Dude obviously it isn’t one on one but these S&C coaches and staff are everywhere. You also get individual attention at you “major” of football. How much would people pay for Meyer or Saban or Patterson coach them individually

Add in a nutritional staff and you get a ton of value as a student athlete. I was a non revenue athlete and we got tons of perks

Then you have something like “Real Life Wednesdays” at Ohio State that exposes the football players to corporate America and prepares them for life after football. Players are getting internships and making valuable contacts through that program. Regular students certainly don’t get that level of exposure and preparation. There’s talk at Ohio State or expanding the program to include all student athletes at the school.

Completely agree. No one says they have to go to college and play football, they’re free to do whatever they want. If it’s not beneficial and is unfair they can always train on their own and see if they get drafted after 3 years. They could also make a living doing something else. I’d say getting a free education while also being trained for something that could potentially lead to earning millions isn’t really a bad deal

Do you know what it’s LIKE to be in the minors?

I sure do. And you're right. Except this part:

There are no groupies wanting to jump you

Now not all those groupies are hot women. A lot of them are overweight middle aged men hoping to to get a card signed that will someday be worth thousands. At least that's what I hope they're hoping for.
