this could be said about over 90% of the citizens of this country
You keep doing this thing that 1) is wrong and 2) still impacts over 30 million people even using your wrong statistics.

About 50% of Americans plan to watch the World Cup in 2026,
1 in 4 of U.S. adults plan to watch World Cup matches at work. We estimate the 2026 World Cup could cost businesses $4.5 billion in lost productivity.
This was funny of course as you indicated earlier:

though more than 1 in 4 (26%) didn't actually know it was being hosted in the U.S. when asked.

I can't even name a single player on the US team. Hell of a job promoting the Cup in the host country.

I think that speaks volumes about the US interest in the World Cup, 75% would rather work than watch the games. Would love to see the % for how Spain, Brazil, Italy answered that question.

Normally, low ticket sales would indicate less interest. This instance is not the case. FIFA has jacked up the ticket prices so high, the largest amounts in history, to where most of the real fans cannot afford to go. Prices will most likely start coming down on the secondary markets and stadiums will get fuller.

They used to call the World Cup, unequivocally, the planet’s biggest sporting event. But it is about to start, right here in North America, and no one much seems to care. Thousands of tickets remain unsold, and just weeks ago, others were being resold well below their official price. In cities around the United States, air traffic isn’t materializing, and hotels that had counted on millions of dollars in additional revenue are watching it trickle instead. FIFA has had to cancel block reservations of rooms.
quote:
In the States, the indifference might not be surprising, even though the event is being played mostly on U.S. soil. The U.S. team is more talented than in the past but hasn’t looked impressive for years. Soccer is still a growth sport rather than a dominant one in this country, and many Americans aren’t exactly feeling the flush of simplistic patriotism these days.
and that's from the New York Times

World Cup is soccer
Lived all over Europe, Cape Town, etc. Roommate in Hamburg was on the German team right below the national team.
I know its soccer enough to know it sucks. Absolutely tons of arse and fun elsewhere. But it sucks here
Point is, nerds want a pick em thread . Go right ahead, but please put the cancer on a board that was specifically made for the 6 of you.
Good day

Is WestCoastAg a 50 year old that still thinks he’s living in 1993?

You small minded people are in the minority. The World Cup is the biggest sporting event in the world.

How desperate do you have to be to want to have a pick em for a soccer tourney?
No one cares...well, besides the maybe 4 of you.
Please God, keep it on the SOCCER board
Probably keeps getting bumped by all the pride month threads.

I'm not sure you understand how minority works...much less which posters are in the minority. It's usually the ones who gargle balls and beg for soccer topics

WestCoastAg does seem to really hate soccer.

If you want to gargle balls we really don't need to hear about it. People like you like to put soccer down because you never had the endurance or skills to play it.
