Did not realize you were a Cubs fan until recently. Thought you just owned some of those dudes in DAT.

more this... been stashing Javy for a year or so

I was big into the Cubs growing up, but eventually lost interest in baseball after I stopped playing. Not ashamed to say the fantasy aspect has brought me back in to it.

End of August, but I think Iowa has a good shot at the playoffs. Not sure when they end.

So here's my Super Early 2017 Dream Come True Opening Day Roster

C: Castillo
1B: Rizzo
2B: Baez
SS: A Russell
3B: Castro
LF: Soler
CF: Alcantera
RF: Bryant

SP: Lester, Arrieta, T Wood, Edwards, Hendricks

Anybody I'm way off base on? I know we'll prob add some vets for depth/spot starts and such but how likely is something like this going to happen?

Are you still not seeing what is so special about Baez ? 3/4 with 2 home runs, and is unfazed by the pressure that surrounds him so far.
He does have bust potential, but the biggest thing he has going for him is his mental make up.
His approach, not so much at the plate but his approach to the game itself makes me believe that hes not only gonna is he going to contribute, but he's going to be a superstar.
His bat at second base, while still very early is starting to kind of remind me of a certain second baseman from the Cubs past.

I dont think you're too far off except for the year. I believe we will see a lineup that looks alot like that for the opening day of 2016, not 2017.

Also, I never thought I'd say it, but with the talent coming in, I hope the NL adopts the DH before 2016.

You'll see him this year. And yes earliest arrival for Bryant is late April early May 2015.

I doubt they stunt schwarbers progression by leaving him at catcher. I know they're saying they are playing him in the out field now to give him a rest after the college season but I expect there is more to it than that and ultimately that's his place if he makes it to the majors.

I'd hope to see Almora somewhere in there. Maybe Almora in CF and Alcantera moving around and being our utility guy.

I agree. If Almora doesn't bust he'll be our cf of the future. By 2017 we will have been buyers at the deadline for a playoff/division push and mendy may well be the bargaining chip and if (big if) everyone sticks he's the man without a position.

MLBN highlights had me aroused. They spotlighted everyCubs player that impacted yesterday's game and showed their age followed their highlites.
