So with the addition of Doubront, what do we do with the rotation?

I would assume either AAA or potentially to be used in long relief. They want to give some of the young arms in the pen a rest and with a couple of inexperienced starters and Edwin Jackson and Travis Wood both struggling, some long relief ability in the bullpen is necessary.

I think Doubront was butthurt about being in the bullpen in Boston. I think the Cubs intent here is to use him as a starter. They're taking a flier on his upside, and I don't hate it at all.

No thanks, I just sit my fat arse on the bench, chew on a tooth pick, and think about how many pitchers I will overuse and ruin their arms.

How did he look in his 3 starts so far for the A's? His Houston start was a typical Samardzija roller coaster.

Double header tonight against the Z's. I'll be out there tonight

Same old Samardzija it looks like. Anyway, glad they can build on the return investment

same old samadzija netted what we got. So the shark from last year, with one more year of control would have netted the same return?

Gonna miss BoniFAPio. I really liked when the Cubs signed him because I knew he would offer solid production and enough to earn a B level prospect. Yesterday could have been a hell of a last game with the Cubs for him.

I like the Doubront move. The Cubs have been turning around starters lately as well as Theo seems to want to reclaim a few guys he has really liked in his Boston system.

Almora hit his 1st bomb in AA.

Soler and Biaz both go deep in game 1 in Nola.

10 more minutes for Bonafacio to be a Cub. Enjoy.

Hopefully a deal got submitted in time. I really don't see any benefit of keeping bonifacio.

the trade deadline thread had something about Russell/Bonifacio to the braves but didn't list what we got in return

I don't mind the Cubs keeping Bonifacio if they couldn't get a good return on him, but if they did deal him I think it's Javi Baez time.

ok, so neither the braves or the cubs have given teh 'all clear' to their media folks yet so possible something got done before the deadline.

Let's talk about the Cubs front office for a second. This is why they're geniuses. They got maximum value out of Samardzija and Hammel by getting Billy McKinney, Addison Russell and Dan Straily. The Rays traded their best asset for Austin Jackson and Drew Smyly? That's it?

If there is a third team in this thing and the Rays did get prospects too, okay. But essentially, this makes the Theo and Jed look like heroes.
